Hey all, I’ve got a bit of a situation where a buyer’s payment has been marked Pending in PayPal, and received a notice from Paypal that “An echeck payment was declined by sender’s bank.”
I’ve reached out to the buyer to rectify the situation, but it’s been over a day since I’ve sent notice and have not heard from them. I’m doing my best to give them the benefit of the doubt and allow them to fix, but I had already sent the yo, and tracking shows it will be delivered tomorrow. I’m still able to intercept the package today and put a hold on it, if I need to.
I don’t want to put the buyer on blast here yet, but will be updating with their username if I don’t get a response from them today.
Has anyone ever had a situation like this? Can you help provide some insight? Message me if you have any ideas. Thanks all, I appreciate the community here and the help yall provide. Cheers
If it’s someone who doesn’t do e-transactions often (or for arbitrary reasons), sometimes the banks may put a delay on things to check it out. The specific mention of “declined” is interesting, but I had a Zelle payment once that took two weeks to come through, was somewhat frustrating, haha.
My account when it was new would do that whenever I processed directly from a checking account. Hopefully this is the same case of PayPal being a little too safe at times
I sent a payment to a seller before that was $1,000 through PayPal using my bank account and it took like 10 or 12 days to clear. They hold until the payment clears fully with your bank and everything so there’s no possibility of problems, however they do not send you a payment declined message of any sort. It just says pending and gives you an estimated date for release of the funds. In my case the funds were released couple days before the estimated date. Hopefully that’s the situation, but I don’t know being that there was a eCheck declined message. It could very well be that they don’t do that often and their bank or PayPal thought it was suspicious.
I did get a Payment Received notification when the buyer sent it through to me. However, it’s got a “Pending” tag next to it in the app and on web.
Unfortunately, it’s a “Friends and Family” deal, as I usually leave that choice up to the buyer.
I had checked feedback for this user prior to making the deal and found positive feedback. There were a fair amount of dealers whom I am familiar with and trust vouching for them as well.
Still haven’t heard anything from the buyer after multiple messages. I was able to put a hold on the package through USPS though. Hoping that may help in the long run.
