YYSL string is pretty awesome (the tubes are similar to what you would find in most biology labs, keeping with the “lab” theme). They pretty much have something for everyone.

Sorry @Markmont, I didn’t mean to post this just before the post went up that you are starting to sell your strings on YYE :sweat_smile:

I’m guessing he is cool with it. It really feels like there is an embarrassment of riches regarding yoyo string now - Markmont’s strings seem everlasting, there are many boutique strings that all seem to have a niche. Seems like it is hard to find bad string. There may be strings that don’t meet someone’s preference, but, downright bad commercially available strings are rare.

A month? That’s child’s play :joy::ok_hand:t6:

Did you get a chance to some Markmont. Formulas? Now I’m curious on your results and reaction :joy:

I received 7 strings. The 5 pack, copi & foam. Copi is my clear favorite. It’s been over a month and their all still going macho savage strong. I had decided going into this that at the price point 1 month of regular use would be the “break even” point in value and anything beyond would be gravy. I knew from the reviews that they’d be high quality but I didn’t necessarily expect that I’d never go back to regular strings again. Only high test going forward. I think airetic, YYSL & ziplines are all top notch. Those three are all more similar to each other where I find Markmonts to be a very different feel.
Yoyoing has been more enjoyable with these laced up.
The value is untouchable as far as strings go boutique or not.
I tried it all before, not till I tried Markmonts was I a believer in spending $$ on strings. Quality > quantity

Yyyeeeesssss glad they worked out for you man - those are ‘mighty’ kind words that me and Monsieur Doctor Will do nnnooottttt take lightly. The quality is the yield of years of multiple sirs efforts into progressing the quality and benefits of yo-yo string. We’re just all the while gratified that other folks can catch the dubs in throw experience that we get out of throwing these formulas ourselves :pray:t6:

The last few weeks I’ve been picking up yoyo’s I haven’t played in a while, which usually have a boutique string on them, play them for a while and just not feel happy with them. So I choose whichever Markmont formula I think will suit the yoyo and trade out the string. Much better every time. Consequently, I’ve been steadily switching all my strings out to Markmont formulas.

As much as I respect and appreciate the effort that zipline, airetic and YYSL put into their strings, none of them match the experience I get from the foams, the dragons, copi and night moves. I’ve been giving my other boutique strings to various friends. I figure I do them a favor by hoarding all the Markmonts for myself. :grin:

I have to agree with you. It doesn’t get any better than a broken in Cumulous Foam. I also enjoy the process of feeling it soften over time and, even though it may look worn down, still holding tension nearly as well as it did on day one.

Do you have a preference for DRAKEN vs. DRAGON?

It really depends on the yoyo. I find myself using blue eyed dragon the most, then dragon and finally draken.

I make my own mostly but Dragon. Draken on anything with a slimmer gap or catchy binds. Otherwise I use kitty bulk and replace often.
