Content vanished

I don’t know, if this is just a site construction issue.

I have observed, on this forum, more than once, that content just vanishes in topics, the topic itself and other content.

I know the moderation is fairly tight, which I do appreciate, but there should be some sign and explanation of what was done and out of which exact reason.

Edit: I removed: “Right now, stuff gets removed seemingly by near chance. To me accountability goes both ways.” I was informed by @Isaac , that jhb and vegabomb are on it and that I should keep my patience.

I believe it is most often content being moderated, deemed inappropriate and removed. It’s happened to me a few times; being only 15 I’m still trying to understand things, like what I should say, and what I should keep to myself.

Sorry, I got a bit personal there–I suppose I mostly came here to apologize/vent. sorry about that.

Evan. Just because you are young, does not make your thought invalid.

And I know that your “god”-comment in the “wise advice” topic was not against me or anybody and I am also sure that your sentiment was born as a reflection of your, our surrounding.

I just don’t want to let go such comments, without opposition, so ppl can see that not everyone takes that “god-stuff” as given.

But I also uphold your freedom to religion, as described in the 18th article of the UN declaration of human rights, because I know the moral of the people, who wrote it.

Snoops’ love you bud’.

I couldn’t agree more. I have five children, 22-38, and I’ve found really listening to them has helped me navigate the world as it’s changed with age.

That being said, we delete content that has been known to cause issues in the past. I’ve been a moderator on yoyo forums since 2009 and I’m pretty sure @jhb8426 has been longer than that. I don’t remove content based on my opinion on a subject, I’ll only remove it if its a subject that has been know to cause fights or arguments. When kept civil I feel these arguments can be productive, the unfortunate problem is they never stay civil. Still, there is a place for these discussions… just not a yoyo forum. :slightly_smiling_face:

Understood.

I just had no insight into the mechanics of how moderation works in this forum and thought maybe it was flagged by a program. I did not want to ruffle any feathers. I just like to know the reason, when something happens to me, if possible. That’s all.

Thanks again.

I’ve been a moderator on 3 yoyo forums since the mid 1990s, as well as a member of 3-4 others in that time. The policy on all of them has been that discussions of politics, religion and a couple of other subjects were not allowed as they inevitably resulted in flame wars. Related topics or posts were deleted out of hand. Snoopy’s bible quote was deleted for that reason and your reply was deleted as well as it had no context with his post gone.

As vegabomb noted…

That has been my practice as well.

Yeah, it was my fault there, I was debating whether or not I should have posted the quote, I reviewed the Community Guidelines a few times and foolishly assumed that the rules wouldn’t allow negative remarks on religion, not just religion in general.

Having gone to Church my whole life, and never really anywhere else, somehow it never crossed my mind that some people may not appreciate such a quote, having grown up around mostly religious people or people who are fine with it, it was almost a culture shock to find that it was not appreciated.

I guess I’m still trying to understand people, I suppose I just don’t know my limits yet, and it’s made me hesitant to post; having had 2 of my posts flagged and removed, it’s really made me try very hard to think about what I’m saying, sometimes I say things that I assume are appropriate because the people I know react very well to it, and I fail to realize that not everybody is the same, and I must know my limits.

Sorry guys, I’ll try harder from now on, if I say something I shouldn’t, please let me know. I want to improve myself.

Thanks @jhb8426, @vegabomb, and @Sven for helping me to understand this, and being kind and forgiving despite your disapproval. I appreciate it.

It’s all good. We all had times, when we went out into the world or a different group to check our own ideas, I still do. It sounds like a cliche, but learning is never over.
And I surely learned a thing from this interaction.

And to quote LJ just once more:

So, let us enjoy Yo’s together and drop all that other stuff.

Mad appreciation and respect of the tight moderation here, however, sometimes I “just” miss some juicy gossip or flame war and, well, all I’m saying is there’s a reason the “Popcorn” button exist on nearly all, modern microwaves.
