Comparison between The Bowl 303 vs Holy Grail. Does anyone have both?

Hello to all the forum:)
Does anyone of you have a 303 steel Bowl and the A-rt Holy Grail to compare them to each other?
They look very similar to the naked eye…but do they play similarly?Does thin-walled steel have that “ding” sound like titanium?
Thank you, greetings for everybody;)

While I haven’t played either of these, I do have SS bowl mini and can confirm it has that “ting” factor. It’s not quite that Ti “ting” that some of my Ti has but it still rings out loud. It’s very satisfying. I’m sure the 303 rings louder (compared to ss mini) given the wall thickness and profile.

I have a Holy Grail and although it’s been a while, I remember my first thought when I tried the 303 Bowl was that it reminded me of the HG. If I recall correctly it also had a nice ting effect but the HG truly sings unlike anything I’ve heard before.

I have both yo-yos. They look similar only on the first glance.

In common they both look stunning and have premium feel on the string.

Bowl 303 plays more floaty and smoothly. It has even weight distribution. I enjoy use it for chill play sessions.

Holy grail has more center weight distribution. Yoyo stability during play is better than Bowl 303. This yoyo has tone of power to go through any complicated tech tricks. And it is pretty nimble on the string.

This two yo-yos in top of my collection. They complement each other. And I can’t select a which one I like more. What about sounds. They are different, one sounds like SS and other like titanium :joy: But these sounds is a music to my ears.

I think you have confirmed what I feared: That they are 2 very different yo-yos with a very similar appearance;)I guess the Ti Bowl will be more like the Holy Grail in play and sound due to the shape and material than the 303 steel and I also think I will have to try both yo-yos in the near future
Thanks to @Shwa and @tysnj for your comments and
Other opinions are welcome

Let me jump into this topic with my little opinion. I have all the yo-yos listed here (including the Ti Bowl), so I have something to compare them to.

Holy Grail, in my opinion, is the fastest of the three. Thin titanium walls allow you to maintain a balance of speed and stability while reducing weight to optimal values that do not feel too heavy. Most importantly, the thin walls do not make the yo-yo too airy; they still feel good on the rope and are easy to control. Due to the thickness of the walls and the way they are made, the “ding” sound is heard at very high frequencies, which is what you would expect from titanium. I can describe HG idea as a “racing top tier car”.

303 has even thinner walls but is still steel and not titanium. Therefore, the weight will be felt less, although the game’s stability will not suffer. The “ding” sound is an order of magnitude lower than that of HG, as the material plays a role. Because the density of the material here is lower than that of titanium (I’m not a steelmaker, so I can’t say 100%), and the walls are even thinner, the yo-yo will inevitably feel lighter, which may be a minus for some. I can describe 303 as a “cloud in hands”.

Ti Bowl is significantly closer to HG than 303 due to the use of titanium. Let’s talk about the main thing immediately - “ding” sounds almost identical, hurray! The main difference is in the coating (my Ti Bowl is electroplated, and the HG is polished), so they feel different in the hand. Due to the rough coating, the Ti Bowl is a little more demanding regarding the thickness of the ropes (personally, I am no longer comfortable playing Sochi Fat because the thread rubs too much against the rough edges). At the same time, HG basically ignores the difference in thickness and plays great on all sizes. In terms of play, they are very similar, although Ti Bowl feels a little “meatier” on the string, while HG is more athletic. Perhaps the original polished Ti Bowl will feel almost identical, but the difference is not too significant even now (I have the Sakura Edition, which is a gram lighter than the original).

These yo-yos hold a special place in my collection, and I cherish them dearly. If you’re considering which one to buy first, I’d suggest going for the one available first. The joy of playing with these yo-yos is what matters most.
