I am looking for a good pair of yoyos for 3a. I have tried with Replay Pros but the spintime prevents me from practicing more and also they aren’t the most stable. I have been looking into the RE Autoscopies from yoyorecreation and they seem good. My only concern is that they seem a bit wide for 3A (This is not too much of an issue as I might also use them for 1a practice sometimes)
Turning Point - Hades is a legendary 3a model. They spin forever!
I have a pair of the Aliyah Tan special colorway that I was going to list soon that are already used with 3a marks. Let me know if you might be interested in them.
The yyf counterattack is a plastic model with internal steel rings for power. These are nice for 3a and to avoid metal on metal contact, but dont spin for quite as long as the hades.
Yeah Hades is my favorite pair. Insanely durable and spin forever.
Re autoscopys are good too. My bro just got a pair and loves them. I wouldn’t worry about the width too much like that is not as issue imo like lots of hella good players are moving widerish for 3a.
I also really liked anubis 2 for 3a and like how durable turning point yoyos are for the style. Like very hard to rim shift
Driftlines by mowl were also a really nice pair I tried 3A
Isn’t the Hades massive lol. My hands aren’t that big and 60mm diameter would probably not suit me. I have a 58mm diameter yoyo and that feels quite big. Also the price is quite high at 230 usd per yoyo
The only yoyo I have that is larger around is the c3 x clyw - h5 leaf.
But I think having the steel rim so far from center is another point in Hades favor for power. The further from center the weight, the more the spin power.
The hades is an older model, its not super wide and therefore doesn’t feel oversized to me.
240 is indeed a lot for 1, but not necessarily over priced. Its an older model that only got occasional reruns over the years.
I plan on listing 2 of them soon for a lot less than that though, because they are already used for 3a with shallow markings all over their rims. I’ll send you some pics.
Maybe be cautious if you have small hands. The dia feels great to me. I had no problem hitting my simultaneous chopsticks tricks on stage. If you don’t feel good w that diameter, then don’t cop them. They don’t feel too big at all when actually playing though and are really comfy in hand and on the catch. You can find a pair on bst decently often but also there are a lot of good yoyos to use instead.
If youre looking to max out spintime and stability, you do want bimetals. The downside is the rings can shift. The unprld ions and the tp yoyos I have tried definitely have been more resistant to rings shifting out of place
Yes, the entangle has excellent stability and spin times. It was designed by a pro 3a player and a yoyo that he’s used in contests. The cyber crash 2 also has good stability and spin times but isn’t as good as the entangle 2.
They are almost certainly suitable if you’re looking for a smaller diameter yoyo and yyr does have that deal for 3a pairs rn so I get it, but I haven’t played them personally so idk. I really doubt they are bad, but I have not played them personally so I don’t want to comment too much on their performance.
I also don’t know how easy/hard the re autoscopys are to shift. I think the yyr stuff generally shifts a normal amount, not super prone to shifting and not super resistant either. think like they will shift maybe 20% of the time if they collide exceptionally hard and direct with a trapeze entrance or something. This is just a guess like I do not have any yyr pairs but I did ask around a bit.
I also want to say that rimshifting is normal for the style and more of a QoL thing vs ooops now the yoyos are ruined. if a bimetal pair does take a hard collision and the rims shift out of place, you can just push them back in place ime. take the yoyo apart and step on the half that needs it and all the yoyos I have done this to pop back in place fine. It is only really a problem if it happens all the time and with light impacts bc having to reset them too often is annoying. It is very hard to actually destroy a pair of yoyos to a point where they are unplayable (for metal yoyos).
YYR has the Staaarter specifically designed as a first 3A yoyo, but I don’t play 3A or know what features it has that make it specifically good for beginners.
mostly a narrow gap for easier binding with super short string that a child or anyone that likes really short for 3a might want to use. also has inner rings you can pop in that will mute resonance after a collision but there will still be a loud clank on initial impact. I liked these when I tried them. My bro much better than me competes with them 3a. they don’t max out spin time and stability like op wanted, but they are a fine pair imo.
I’m still a huge fan of the Freshly Dirty untitled 74 with the brass rims. That’s my main 3A set but they arent in stock anymore so you’d have to bst them from someone. I also really like the Recognition Redux for a monometal 3a yo.
Truuue I forgot, lol. I actually don’t use my Titanx for 3a since I only have one and haven’t bothered to get another/another set since I have the pink/blue fade and I don’t really wanna 3a it. It’s probably pretty good, got that smaller gap and fat rims.
