that’s seems like a good price to me. $60 a yoyo could actually leave you some profit off of that if you sell some or come out even. Seems like a better idea to me if you want a lot of testers.
but the thing is that we don’t have 600 bucks, and if we raised that much then what if the design ended up not working? then we would have to raise another $600 and try again. and also, i just got word that we may be able to get one made for free as a favor (with some modifications)
I’m thinking that i might get a free proto to test it, then raise $600 and buy 10 more from one drop just for selling to testers. that way before we spend all our money, we know for sure that the design will work (cause we already made a proto)
ok, another update. as it turns out there was ANOTHER misunderstanding about the quantity. its actually $600 for 10 HALVES, so only 5 yo-yos. that means that alvin would actually be a lot cheaper.
That puts you at $120/unit before bearings are added into the equation. A bit of an ouch to the wallet but you can see now how the up front costs can be expensive and have to be considered into final prices as well as quantity to get affordable numbers.
I don’t see why you’d need more than 5 complete yoyos for testing.
ok yeha, he emailed me back and said that it was a typo. so its still 10 yo-yos. but the only problem now is that if we get them prototyped there then we would pretty much have to do a production run right after, leaving no time to raise the $1800 that we need to do a full production run.
yeah, so 18 bucks per throw, but that does not include bearing, axle, response pads or anodizing. anodizing is $14 i believe, response pads are 1.50 for a pair, axles are like 3.00 each, and bearing price varies a lot. overall one finished ready to sell yoyo would cost 33.50 if we got the cheapest bearing around. but we may be able to get like a special deal if we order 100 of each of those at a time.
PM me if you want to raise some funds by maybe selling me 1 or 2 at what is a fair price. If it can be siliconed, then I’ll silicone it. If it requires bearings, I’ll supply my own. Axle? Well, I’ll have to have you supply that part!
I can probably swing 2. Let me know what colors or plans are for anodizing. I like clear(so I can see the metal) and blue.
I try to support the community. But, the problem I would have is “will the prototype have a chance to be tested” or is this a “one shot deal”. I mean, then what’s the purpose of prototypes if you go from samples to production run?
