Chrono Trigger’s OST is impeccable
Other good ones:
DOOM 2016
Pokémon Emerald Version (especially Battle! Deoxys). The remakes in Alpha Sapphire and Omega Ruby are good too.
Caves of Qud has one of the best main menu themes in my opinion
Both Risk of Rain and Risk of Rain 2 have incredible OSTS
I also love the Katamari Damacy OST. Fun stuff
World of Warcraft, every expansion lol.
Honorable mention, Legend of Zelda Ocarina of Time.
THPS, I still throw them on at work pretty regularly.
The entire GTA 5 soundtrack
There’s a distinct lack of FM synth going on in these recommendations, not one of my personal favorites but Thunder Force IV goes real hard. Yuzo Koshiro cutting his teeth with crispy FM synth hardware is definitely what elevates the EO1-3 soundtracks.
First off, I agree with Brandon. WoW has a LOT of really incredible music. The Ocarina soundtrack is a classic.
Second, my favorite in recent memory is the Cadence of Hyrule soundtrack. The rhythm gamified versions of the old Zelda tracks are truly amazing.
I love showing Tim Follin’s Pictionary title theme to people.
This man went nuts for NES PICTIONARY of all things. He’s just a legend.
We Love Katamari is one of my favorite albums.
Shadow of the Colossus has an amazing soundtrack, definitely worth a listen. The game is incredible.
Journey is also great.
I always liked the Vermillion city theme in Pokemon Red too.
Does GTA Vice City count?
Was disappointed in the OST for Armored Core 6. Was hoping for something along the lines of what 3 had.
Xenosaga 1 : Der Wille sur Macht.
You can thank me later.
kids today will never understand how hard some of the demo scene tier music went on cracked rom intros
