There are already a few topics about video games, but they’re more about specific questions rather than a general discussion. So, here’s a general topic for discussions about video games and to talk about what we’re currently playing, gaming history, recommendations, tips and tricks, etc.
I’ll start: I’ve been playing since the NES days. I started out with Super Mario Bros/Duck Hunt when I was still just a toddler and I haven’t stopped since. I owned most of the consoles growing up (NES, SNES, PC, PS1, N64, Dreamcast, GameCube, PS2, Xbox, Xbox360) and now I mainly play on PS4 and PC. I play a little bit of everything and no genre is off limits.
Most recently, I finally beat Bloodborne for the first time (after years of hitting a wall, rage quitting, then coming back to it over and over) on PS4. I’m still working on progressing through the chalice dungeons and unlocking the proper ending on NG+. On PC, I just picked up Stardew Valley which I’m really getting into. It has similar vibes as Terraria except with a larger focus on farming (like, actual farming, not just loot farming) and interacting with the NPC community. I think I’ll be playing that one for a while.
Bloodborne is amazing. It’s probably my favorite of the soulborne games.
I just picked and started playing through the Castlevania Dominus collection. Aria of sorrow is one of my favorite games but I never got to play any of the DS Castlevanias so it’s nice they’re all in one package.
Bloodborne took a while to click for me but I now think the combat is probably my favorite of all the FromSoft games. I love the pacing and the trick weapons are so much fun. DS3 is my most played though.
I used to have a DS and played the Castlevania games at the time they were released. They were really really good and made great use of the touch screen. You really can’t go wrong with any of the Castlevanias. You’re definitely going to have a good time!

the only game i’ve been playing recently is a few hours of rimworld here and there
I still want to go back and play elden ring but my attention span does not get along with that game
Rimworld has been on my wishlist and I’m just waiting for a good sale. It looks like something I could sink hundreds of hours into.
Elden Ring is another game I have sunk hundreds of hours into. Gotta get the DLC and hop back in at some point. It takes some serious time and dedication to get through. Also, I probably wouldn’t have beaten any FromSoft games without looking things up on the Wiki. They make some questlines way too vague and I have no shame.

yeah I’m closing in on the 200 hour mark for rimworld, great game. Would highly recommend it if you like games that don’t require 100% of your attention 100% of the time and enjoy management/resource constraints.
I’ve been playing through Atelier Ayesha Plus and just got a copy of Echoes of Wisdom that’s gonna get played soon. I kinda passively track what I’ve been playing on Backloggery since I have a bad habit of starting games and not finishing them.
And frick I actually wanna play Elden Ring seeing y’all talk about it. I pirated it around launch but the game really didn’t like my PC hardware and it just white screens on launch zzz. I’ll probably play it on my partner’s computer eventually
I haven’t really played any new games for the past few months though because I got motivated to pick up SP finally (tfw DP main) and get dual chuuden during the new IIDX style, so pretty much all of the time I spend playing video games now is purely IIDX. It’s my most played game by a lot, but I’ve kinda been taking a break for the past 3 years because I wanted to focus on getting good at yoyoing.
IIRC the developer said Rimworld isnt gonna get a big sale any time soon. I got it from humblebundle for like 28€ (so like 15% off).
But if you are remotely interested: CHECK IT OUT
I got it on PS4 first and got ~40h in it.
Then switched to Steamdeck and was not happy with the controls at first.
Now its one of my go to games on the deck.
Back2Topic:
I‘m super addicted to Balatro (again) since it came to mobile 3 weeks ago. Probably my GOTY
Balatro is so good. One of my favorite roguelikes.
I beat Metaphor Refantazio recently and it made me want to play more SMT. I’m playing Strange Journey Redux now. I beat the original forever ago but never got very far in Redux

Balatro is very good yes, I sunk like 40 hours into that over a month when it came out, SUPER highly recommended. I love games like that where all the decisions matter, Slay the Spire comes to mind as another amazing roguelike.
Playing Thief: The Dark project (well, the Gold edition with GOG treatment) for the first time. Extremely season-appropriate game - moody, spooky, NERVERAKING, delightfully late 90s. Love it.
also a balatro enjoyer here! it came out on mobile recently and i’ll get back into it again eventually but right now i’m occasionally dabbling into the higher ascensions in slay the spire. ufo 50 is also an amazing collection of games from some of my favorite developers
I keep hearing how good Balatro is. According to top Steam review, “If you have a family , a loved one, a child , a pet to feed. DO NOT PLAY THIS GAME.”
