Best place to buy Titanium throws?

well 1. Titanium is cool and 2. Titanium is expensive, so no matter what the design is a Ti yoyo will be expensive

So you are pulling arguments out of your tukas in order to say that I argued against durability? Nice try but it does not make your case. I never mentioned weight rings on aluminum body yo-yos. My argument is with a completely titanium made yoyo. I pay quite a bit of attention, it is you who is introducing new facts in order to fabricate evidence that I never gave in order to substantiate a case that you canā€™t make otherwise.

And on the aerodynamics sideā€¦ you are completely mental arenā€™t you. Completely and utterly bloody mental. I most certainly know what ā€œaeroā€ means. Do you yo-yo in a vacuum? Are you in deep space throwing your Ricochet? If not, air is interacting with it. If you would really like to educate yourself on this I recommend taking a look at this topic over at One Drop that deals with fluid mechanics in regards to yo-yos. As we all know the study of aerodynamics is a subset of the science of fluid mechanics. The author, dirty birdy, is probably one of the smartest men in the hobby today.

Yoyos and Fluid Mechanics

Before you spout off again please keep in mind I am a HUGE science geek. I love it. One of the reasons I am so interested in exotic metal yo-yos is because of all the science behind the materials used. Heck, I love yo-yos in general because of all the science involved. I have used them in my classroom in order to teach my 3rd grade students about things such as simple machines and the properties of force vs. work.

Just giving open apology to stookie. I had one too many last night, had been on road for about 10-11 hours, and fighting with ex wife about my daughters time with me during summer.

I still think all the repetitive posts were excessive but I honestly thought he was repeating everything that had been said in the review thread although it wasnā€™t by him.

Was hoping the thread was going somewhere about other TIs when saw all the activity but found it all mangled. My wife was laughing at me for switching my out lashing to here from the ex.

Oh well. We all have our moments at some point and I truly feel like TI in the ricochet has a unique feel. I donā€™t know if all TIs have that feeling but imagine they do.

I actually find the use of TI as weight rings to be gimmicky. I think brass or tungsten would be more interesting and Iā€™ve seen them used before.

While the yo-yo I reviewed was flawed, the brass rings on the Stealth Ogre gave an great spin time to it. I have also heard the Dertā€™s with tungsten weight rings play fantastic even though they are pocket throws with a sub 50mm diameter. The Baby Dert and KC Dert are on my list of must try yo-yos. ;D

Yes Sir, she is a Beauty !!! ;D
Only 20 were made and 18 distributed.
The priceā€¦is $500.00.

I guess youā€™ll really have to LOVE Titanium!!

That looks crazy. Like a titanium Chief but the inner cup is so different.

Anyone have specs on this?

There ā€œmayā€ be a second run of this. If so, Iā€™m hoping no engraving in the center. I think YoyoExpert will get the next run. I hope! Their last Ti was $485, so they stepped it up again. I plan to indulge if they are sold hereā€¦will you?

I have a very bad memory and it has been written many times that the extra durability associated with Titanium is not worth the money. If you never said that, I apologize for associating that idea to you.

Yes, everything interacts with air, even me. However, the point Iā€™m making is that is not the focus of yoyo design, yoyo designs donā€™t try to be aerodynamic. As the post you directed me yourself, that seems to be the first time that someone does physics simulations on yoyos, and for pure academic reasons, that model wasnā€™t even an actual prototype. I have put my face near a spinning yoyo and know it displaces air.
Yoyo designs are not tested on wind tunnels nor do they strive to be aerodynamic. The designs are focused on maximizing spin times and on the string/yoyo/hand interaction.

Like I said, you donā€™t need super thin walls to achieve a radical weight distribution if youā€™re using different materials, a thick wall on a low density material gives about the same weight distribution of a super thin wall on a high density material, thatā€™s the established design of weight rings. Are the 2 shapes the same? No, but the distribution can be.

I donā€™t want to keep arguing with you as this doesnā€™t give me anything in return. Whatever you write next means you win

I love Ti for the material that it is. I donā€™t care what the shape is, I just love looking at and touching itā€¦ I used to form/cut/sand/weld titanium tubes turning them into bicycle frames for Litespeed and Merlin bicycles. Itā€™s a beautiful metal. Let the love titanium can provide into your hearts.

Need you ask?

I think we share the same lust for Titanium no matter the price. May not be the smartest financial decision I can make, but what the heckā€¦it makes me happy and thatā€™s all the reason I need.

^ I was just making sure that you havenā€™t given up after taking it this far. Just checking to make sure everything is okay. Iā€™m game! Thatā€™s one sick looking throw.

I just wanted to hold it on my hand and see how comfortable it is, throw it a couple of times and see what $500 buys.
While I do love titanium and yoyos, $500 is way too high, Iā€™d only buy it if I were to sell other throws to play for it (in my case, not gonna happen as shipping is prohibitive).

P.S: that looks way more comfortable in the hand than my Cliff does.

Where is it being sold?

^ Only overseas as far as I know. But, donā€™t fret, YoyoExpert will have them soon  I only spend that kind of dough here. So, get ready folks!

Yea I looked on that overseas site and shipping wasnā€™t bad but if yye is going to have them may wait on ordering. If there are only 18 though will yye even get them for sure?

From the reviews I saw on the 2011 Ti model it seemed to be good except for grinding which from my understanding is a direct result of the Ti material. So for $500 this throw better be one bad mother. No better chance to start my collection and comparisons between different Tis though.

Double post

the poor grinding is actually a result of the finish, not the metal, if the metal had a porous finish on it (like an Anno) then it would grind nicely, but youā€™d loose the nice natural Ti.

If you want it to grind, youā€™ll have to have it blasted and cleared so the blast wonā€™t wear off.

Titanium ano doesnā€™t work like aluminum does, it is not required as titanium is already corrosion resistant and doesnā€™t required the ano layer.
Also dyes are not used on titanium anodizing, itā€™s a whole different process, the color achieved depends on the voltage used on the ano job.
