string theory is a great one.
Slusny, not sure what it means but it’s sort of a cool word and memorable.
I can’t find the old yyn thread but there was a big stink about the yyf logo. its another company’s logo they just put their name on.
I love that logo! Now I have to find what company used it first!
I do like ‚Yoyorecreation‘ pretty much because it perfectly encapsulates what Yo-yoing is for me most of the time. Especially with a reliable, top notch performing and smooth feeling organic V-Shape Throw like the ‚Monotone‘.
My two favourites are probably atmos projects (who’s name evokes that minimalist design approach) and RSO (round spinning objects) who evoke that their yoyo’s are “otherworldly” and it goes well with their space inspired branding. Love them both
Forgot about RSO! That’s one of the best, for sure!
66percent
Their yoyos are 66% smaller
I had wanted to make a super consistent string and was playing around with what name would convey that. In the sport kite world they would talk about “lab-grade winds” so I chose YoYoStringLab for lab-grade string, which was more descriptive than clever. I also made up the drawing for the logo at the same time (lab flasks styled to spell YoYo when you look at the black negative space between them)
.
ooo I see it now! YoYo ha nice!
All this time looking at that logo in my string case and the sticker on my yoyo case snd I never realized that was yoyo…
Sneaky subliminal message to yoyo.
For me, in no particular order:
44:recreation
Spin dynamics
String theory
Turning point
Throw Revolution
SPYY
One drop
Anti-yo
Yoyojoker
Just adding to the list, but I think Gway is fun. Took me a while to figure out what it meant—Guy With A Yoyo.
Hah I had no idea!
… But generic. Not unique; and is confusing to search engines.
We get it dude you hate the name Motion YoYo - move on… you’re cool.
I do not “hate” the name. This thread is about best named yo-yo brands. You were the one crowing about motion being a great brand name for the very reasons that I cited for it not being great. I do not think that a generic name like"motion" is a particularly unique or compelling name for a yo-yo brand.
Get over it; and move-on yourself.
Seriously, what is your problem with someone disagreeing with you?
I asked a non-yoyo friend to type “Motion Yoyo” into Google and send me the top suggestions.
She has no yoyo search or website visit history, is searching from a different IP address, etc.
I agree that a small business concerned about SEO would be well advised to choose a distinctive name. “Motion” and “yoyo” are indeed two fairly non-distinct terms that would be expected to collide with many unrelated searches and businesses.
Yet, this is not the case here. Pretty remarkable, IMO. I really don’t see an SEO or overall discoverability concern in this case.
Beyond all that, I think that the way that the overall naming scheme intentionally plays back into the “Motion YoYo” brand deserves some credit.
I’m pretty sure motion yoyo isn’t generic, by definition. Also, pretty sure it’s quite unique by definition, as there isn’t another yoyo company with that name. And i think search engines wouldn’t have much of a problem bringing up relevant matches when searching for motion yoyo.
Now, if you just don’t like the name, that’s totally understandable, as everyone is definitely entitled to their own opinion.
