I’ve been trying out different bearings recently and just wanted to know everyone’s opinion on what your best or favorite bearing is. I got a few of the Yoyo creation DS bearings and put one in my Sengoku Shinobi and it really rips ! I noticed, like my mowl surveillance, at first the bearing was pretty loud and vibrated a little but seemed to get smoother as I play it but i put the platinum one in my iYoyo Impact and it’s like a Tesla, super quiet and smooth. Just wondering if the way the bearings act is Due to the yoyo and not uniform across different shapes ?
Some bearing seat are tighter than others, also some bearings have a slightly larger inner ring that may induce some vibe if they don’t fit properly on the seat.
Another factor that may add vibes is the lateral stability of the bearing: grab the inner ring with two fingers and then try to wiggle the outer ring laterally, you’ll find that cheap bearings wiggle a lot. I found it most on unbranded gold bearings.
These are the two major factors for how a bearing plays in my experience. That said I never use branded expensive bearings, I found some good quality bearings on chinese online stores which just play good and cost a tenth of a branded one.
For what concerns the loudness, for sure the shape and material of the yoyo play a role on that, plastic and hybrid yoyos are usually louder. However regular cleaning and lubing can turn the volume down quite a bit
My favorite is the concave Lotus bearing, also the ten-ball concaves that come in C3 yoyos.
