Back to school!

My daughter is pretty chill for being 7 years old but she’s 7 going on 17. She is already embarrassed to hold my hand in public, as a father, it’s heartbreaking. Being a single father, my daughter was in daycare all summer but it’s more like a camp during the summer months as she got to do all kinds of fun activities and field trips. So no real change here, just amazed at how time keeps speeding up as I get older, I think parents measure time through their children’s growth, at least I think others do that, I can’t speak for all parents, lol, that’s how I measure time and man it’s moving fast. I’m trippin out that my daughter just started second grade on Tuesday. She’s now at the age where I developed some solid memories, I had memories before 2nd grade, of course, but that is when my neurons really started making the connections to form solid memories and now my lil girl is growing up. She is also really tall so people mistakenly think she’s about 3 years older than she is, which freaks me out.

I did have a magical moment where she showed interest in yoyo’s… it only lasted 5 minutes but I’ll take what I can get.

The fact that you feel that way is a sign that you are a good parent! Bad parents never question their parenting abilities.

That is so cool! I wish we had something like that when i was growing up. I still plan on learning Kendama one of these days.

I am not looking forward to those days for my daughter, it’s a rough time. I hated junior high too. High school was better but I was never big on school… not because I didn’t like to learn, the structure just isn’t for everyone. I had big social anxieties back then too, I still do but I am older now and don’t have to worry about fitting in anymore. It’s our rite of passage though, we all have to go through it. Hope it all goes well.

i play mind games with mine. first, i set it up by telling her that her yoyo is so kool that if she ever stops liking it she promises to give it to me. hypes it up in her mind. then, i just ask her to play with her yoyo. no fail, nothing makes her want to play her yoyo more than if i want it

I love that, I’m going to have to figure out what works on my daughter.

This is the first time in 13 years that I’m not going back to school. The greatest feeling in the world!

Almost every electrical engineer I know programs computers or a living. Keep at it. I found programming hard to grasp at first. I did not know where to begin.

I’m so not ready. I was hoping to do part time school and part time work but now I have to fit school in to my full time job. And the kids are back so it’s been insane (k-12 sys admin).

All of the ones I know are in transmission and generation. Some in distribution. But then I worked in a utility consortium that monitored and regulated the generation and transmission in the midwest region of the country.
