We’re proud to present the Ekta — designed and tested by Evgeniy Kochergin, and powered by Atmos Projects. The Ekta serves as the first design installment in our new Monogram Line, which will feature entries all across the year.

SPECS
Diameter 58.0mm
Width 48.0mm
Weight 67.3g
Material 7068 AL · SS

The Ekta began with a conversation about the Monogram Line. We’ve established three design lines since our start four years ago, but an element I always felt missing was the capacity for the players in our team to have full direction over product concept, design, and storytelling. Our current members – Evgeniy, Coleman, and Vladimir – are incredibly talented artists in their own right and possess unique styles and philosophies when it comes to yoyo, life, and art. In many ways, their artistic vision and sensibilities contribute to what Atmos Projects is and has become as an entity.

In May 2023, I reached out to Evgeniy to pitch the idea of a signature model, and along with it an early concept of what would eventually grow into the Monogram Line. The Monogram Line would be home to signature designs for Team Atmos players, and their designs would serve as a canvas for the full expression of a player’s style, tastes, and philosophy. The notion was that the team would take full rein in putting an authentic reflection of who they are in the world – embodying their journey, culture, and vision for what’s to come.

Evgeniy would be given a blank canvas with design; the freedom to craft a model entirely out of his sense of priority as a player and competitor – even the freedom to depart from our design corpus.

Evgeniy indicated a preference for something large and powerful – a bimetal, larger than the Aria. We eventually designed three versions of the Ekta – the first logged 60mm in diameter, and clocked a whopping 70g – but eventually settled for a relatively moderate 58mm in diameter, and 67.3g in mass. Given Evgeniy’s playstyle, which is a combination of aggressive rhythm, cadence, and fluidity, we had to find a way to make a big design also move quick and easy.

The Ekta’s physique is an echo of the Aria – it sports the nuanced, subtle cuts of the Weatherman Line that are aesthetic as they are ergonomic; it looks great, and feels even better in the hand. By Evgeniy’s request, the Ekta also sports a domed hub, which is also found in the Polaris.

Another similarity it bears to the Polaris is the rim design – its angular construction packs a deceptive amount of mass – over 60% of the Ekta’s mass lives in these steel rims. The Ekta plays like a linebacker – it’s hefty at 67.3g, but it runs quick.

The Ekta might show its heft on first throw, but once it gains momentum, it sprints across the string with ease.

Evgeniy worked on the art material surrounding the Ekta release, taking inspiration from vintage advertisements in sportswear, cars, and street culture – and we’re in love with what he created.

The name Ekta is inspired by Evgeniy’s favorite film stock, the Kodak Ektachrome, and pays homage to Evgeniy’s passions in film and photography.

The Ekta is a large and fast competition model that shakes things up in our product lineups, and also serves as an embodiment of Evgeniy’s vision and style.

Absolutely LOVE the advertisement for this. 80’s and 90’s car ads were easily some of the best ever and this captures all that magic. Kudos to all involved, looks like a stellar yoyo!

Hi everyone, did someone tried and bought one of those?
I am on a strict “no buy yoyos” policy at the moment but I was wondering for the future, this yoyo seems something straight up my alley, specs, shape and I do love the look of it, the price is in line with the bimetals nowadays, never had anything from Atmos but it seems a very cool brand.

Curious to hear your opinions

Hello, Albertino! You will want to put Ekta on your short list if you like a slightly larger throw. At 58/48 it fills the hand. Super premium / glass smooth bi-metal that goes for days. Its time for you to experience atmos! Ekta has a TP vibe to it.

The specs don’t bother me, I see the diameter is slightly bigger than usual but its fine, pretty sure I can chopstick and do techs without problems with this bad boy, it intrigue me a lot the look, it looks amazing, I seen some team member using it and seems great as well, diameter is fine quite in the normal region nowadays, I do like performing yoyos and this seems to hit the mark completely, love also the cuts on the shape. I put it on my list of “wanted”
