Anyone else want CLYW to make a plastic?

I’ll buy!!!

I would buy multiples of a CLYW plastic

i’m actually kind of OK with no CLYW plastics.

Don’t worry… Slithering Hippo will make plastic yoyos better than ever. And if CLYW wants to step up to the plate and take a swing at making a better plastic than we can, let them try… they can’t do it.

if that’s so I’ll have to buy one of your throws when they come out.

you sound confident. Confidence is a good thing as long as you don’t get cocky

Hopefully this is the only time I’ll ever have to quote Kid Rock.

And I’m gonna back it up like like a mack truck. Deal with that.

haha sounds like the best sales pitch is “we’re better than _____”. Not bad.

They could call it the imposter

No.

Unfortunately, it’s not possible with the resources, especially if sold in stores.

So there’s going to be a more expensive plastic that CLYW is releasing?

Yes!

Wow, my first time seeing this topic. Ya I would love to do a plastic throw, but it is going to take some time to raise some capital to do it. An injection mold is quite pricey, not to mention finding the right shops to work with.

I really hope to make one one day, we’ll see how things go over the next year.

In my experience making a delrin throw costs about the same as a metal. Similar material costs, similar machine time, plus it makes a mess out of a CNC. I just can’t justify doing it locally. I have no idea how these other companies are making them for so cheap.

Who is slithery hippo what?

Hehe, he’s funny.

Yeah u kinda want them to make a plastic because well I can’t afford a metal at the time

Put it away, kiddo. Threadjacking to hype your unreleased yo-yo is weak sauce.

But wouldn’t they save you on blasting/anodizing? Idk but I think around $70 is a reasonable price for both buyer and manufacturer if enough quantity is produced since I think it would cost about the same as to produce raw yoyos(a bit more possibly)

Yes you’d save on that, but you’d have to add custom machined hardware as well.

Last I talked to my machine shop about this, they weren’t too keen on filling their CNC full of plastic cuttings. Delrin just has never been a CLYW thing through the years. A nicely designed injection molded plastic on the other hand is something I really want to do one day

In retrospect, you’re absolutely right. Classless and a bad idea.

I’ve got many bad ideas, since I’m a leprechaun farmer who’s a gambler.
