I somewhat agree. I personally think if she grows her audience the way she is, she could have people very interested. Sponsorship in my eyes has more to do with so called skills, which are subjective anyway. It also takes into account the audience and core following, the image and if there is something about it beneficial to the company. She appears young, and has a lot of room to grow, but she’s doing great. I will check out the rest of her channel. Maybe I will send her some things. Oh, and I’d be impressed if she were a boy, but this is a thread about girls. There you have it. And if a company wants to promote girls and women in yo-yoing, they can sponsor her or any other female they choose to. That is a company decision. Having said that, if a company feels that being “female” is an asset, among other things…so be it. Plenty of young men aspire to be sponsored too. There is nothing wrong with a girl seeking the same. If a girl thinks she can convince other girls to buy a company’s yo-yos, and the company wants that…it’s a potential match.
So thrilled. Please check out http://www.cariboublog.com/?portfolio=ewelina-wejner. Chris added a new player to team CLYW, a woman from Poland named Ewelina Wejner. I hadn’t heard of her, so I started up the videos from the CLYW website. My 4 year old daughter ran over to look, and yelled “she’s a girl, just like me!” My little one can’t yoyo yet…but she was all excited to be a big girl and do “tricks.”
Good for CLYW for bringing this Ewelina Wejner onto their team. This is exactly the direction companies should look to on in the the future.
After watching these videos I want to back up on some of my earlier comments. I think some of the videos I have seen on YouTube of MsGosieQ, the one who had the “Hufflepuff!” video, puts her right on this young ladies heels as far as skills go. Maybe it’s not at all unreasonable to speculate that sponsorship could be in MsGosieQ’s future as well.
Yep she’s definitely has the part down mostly she could get on a team in europe at this rate or an American team company if they need someone form Europe if they try hard enough
Now I’m confused. When you go to CLYW’s page welcoming Ewelina Wejner to their team this video you posted for “Nuu Gatowsky” is there. I watched this video and thought I was watching Ewelina Wejner. So there are actually two different young ladies in the videos on this page?
Same person. I wasn’t sure which name to use when I posted. Nuu is a nickname. Where the last comes from I have no idea. Her team profile page mentions the aka, but doesn’t go into detail.
I was speaking of the fact that while I was posting a response to BanjoSpins to clarify that the new CLYW player has two names, PajamaMan8398 beat me to it.
I’m not sure that’s true. Sponsored guy players get plenty of hype it seems to me. If the young ladies get a little extra attention just because they’re girls that’s still a good thing. The endeavor of this thread is to draw attention to the rising female players out there and promulgate the idea that competitive yo-yoing is not just a guy thing anymore.
^ I agree Banjo’. I just watched the Nuu Gatowsky video. I think her image fits really well with CLYW, and I applaud them for having a woman on the team. She deserves all the attention she gets. I think it will be good for her and for the company too. I don’t own a CLYW, but I’ve just been inspired, so I will soon. Good job CLYW. There were recently two threads on this forum alone, with Andrew’s name in the title. I think he has been getting the attention he deserves as well.
yeah i dont know why but it always seems when theres some kind of female on a team the yoyos that they have suddenly become special like the ann connolly that or i am just being confused
Honestly Abby1371, the Ann Connolly Whip is special. It’s a well balanced plastic throw with a Center Trac bearing for $10. I can’t imagine everyone not owning one. It’s probably 80% what my DMII is, for 25% the price. And if you absolutely hate it…you’ve got a great bearing.
That said…there probably is some extra hype around her throws. But isn’t that the point of this thread? Sure…there are probably 100 good yoyo guys for every 2 or 3 good yoyo girls…but if we want that to change, we should celebrate those 2 or 3 for being the ground breakers that they are.
