LOVE the POV vids! It gives me the chance to really see how the trick looks from the thrower’s perspective. I think that’s one of the most difficult parts of learning new tricks - watching someone else and then translating that to my own efforts. Thanks Ed!
MORE POV VIDS!!
Looking awesome, Roberto! I’m jealous of how you can snap out of your stalls. I’m still working on that.
Got a little captain in you? (PSA: I do not condone under age drinking; nor was I imbibing before, during or after the making of this video) anyway, check this one out:
does anyone know how I can remove the inner race from a bearing? I’m happy to grab some tools and do it the hard way but as with most things there is a trick that makes it extremely easy… lookin to take some of my metals back in time…
What you do is get an 8ball ball bearing that you don’t use.(ten balls didn’t work for me). So in the bearing there is a side that shows the balls and a side the does not. flip it to the side that shows the balls. the little metal pieces that are in between the balls get a pin and push them out. the crow and balls will come out the inner race and the outer race warning you can’t put it back together. you get the inner race and enjoy metal fixed axle yoyos.
I spent a good part of last night trying to get down GT’s on a No Jive. Landed one. Trying to figure out the perfect setup on one of my No Jives for tricks like that. I want it to stay responsive, but I also don’t want it to be too responsive. Once I get my “ideal” tuning done on it I’ll let everyone know about it.
Been smoothing things out and trying out a bit more advanced stuff. Gondola and Buddha’s Revenge while still spinning are 2 big ones. Then on Sunday I saw a counterweight on my bookshelf and bought to myself, “well, I’ve never done 5a at all…might as well attach that thing to a ProFly.”
Accidentally discovered freegens, then saw Ed doing them on Instagram later and felt pretty cool. Haha. Multitudes of attempts at no hand kickflip-suicides and varials. This is seriously fun.
Elminster and the Super Squirrel, greatest team up of all time.
All lefty, all the time for February for me.
I’ve made some significant progress on lefty front loops clearing 15 loops one time. I can reach 10 most of the time.
I tried to loop with both hands again this past weekend and the string broke on one of the yoyos on my first loop… as it was returning. Hit me right in the clavicle. Even though it was the plastic profly, it still hurt for a day or two. March will be my two handed looping month, I’ve decided. I need some time to forget how much that hurt.
Unfortunately the only photo I have seen is the one on ebay where I bought it. It was list as “Tom Kuhn Maple “No Jive” Wood Yo-Yo”. I will have to wait till next week to receive it.
Does it have a Maple Leaf on it? If so that was the First No Jive, they were made for years. I think those were made in 77 and the 3-in-1 was made in 78. Maybe Ed can chime in with more info.
the vast majority of “maple leaf” no jives are reissues from the 90’s made by BC/hummingbird for tom kuhn. they are good, solid fixed axle yo-yo’s (although not “3-in-1” since only hex-nut No Jives come apart). it’s exceptionally rare to find a san francisco maple leaf no jive from the late 70’s.
however, if it has a hex nut, then obviously it’s one of the regular “no jives” and can be taken apart/reassembled.
This one has a maple leaf in the center with the word Maple underneath it. Surrounding it is “No Jive”, a star, “a fine yoyo”, a star, TOM KUHN YOYO co. San Francisco pat. pend. and a third star. It does not have a hex nut.
Does this help?
