4a yoyoers thread! Come talk 4a

Basically just the pliers (which have the round thing). Although it looks like the bearing sits on metal. I am going to try freezing it after school.

It does, the solid spin is metal…

So that should work.

Where did you get this go big? I remember you saying something about it being broken at first or something…

Hello, So I’ve been wanting another offstring yoyo and right now it’s between the rextreme and the Gaia.
I have heard that the rextreme can be flimsy and broken easily, and I haven’t heard anything about the Gaia. I like the shape of the Gaia and that it’s made of delrin. I like my offstring yo-yos to be a little wider and not have a really large diameter. I own a go big and it’s a little to large and narrow for my tastes but I threw in some mod spacers into a hayabusa and I loved it. Also are there any benefits to C size bearings versus A size? ( sorry if I should of placed this in the recommendations but this is a 4a thread and I decided so)

So you have a go big, but it’s to narrow and to big??

The Rextreme is one of the biggest, makes the go big feel like a mighty Flea.

Yes they can be easily broken, but not if your careful…

Sounds like a Fiesta would be good for you.

How good are you, and do you really want to do it a lot?

Because the delrins are just luxury/durable…

If your super good, yes a Delrin might be good. Buy who are the winners of 4a winning with? ReXtreme, Fiesta Go big etc.

You don’t need a expensive Delrin to be good.

The go big is one of the smallest. You can’t look for a wide/small offstring…

Even though Michael Nakamura won 4A this year using a Jet Set EC lol. But again, don’t get a delrin until you’re pretty good at 4A, it’s not worth the money at that point. Try a Fiesta XX.

I’m actually pretty advanced. The hayabusa took me this far and I’m looking for something that’ll suite me from here on.

Bought a new one right away. I tried the freezer method and I’m trying again. If no luck I will jut get a bearing puller. What do you recommend? The YYF multi tool probably won’t work on a half size bearing.

It will actually… But don’t waste 5.00 on it…

If you just bought it can’t you return it?

Could you take a pic of the seat and PM me it?

I woudn’t worry too much about the RexTreme being broken, despite this recently happening to me:

The yoyo’s rim(near the weight ring) hit a Lego Quatro block and that’s the result of that incident. However, that yoyo has taken countless other hits and drops and has been fine. I’d say if you’re normally playing in an environment where debris isn’t gonna have a chance to hit the yoyo while it’s dropping, you’re gonna be fine.

However, if the Go Big is too large, well, you’re gonna hate most off-strings then. The RexTreme is significantly WIDER and larger in diameter than the GoBig.

I’m not all that great, but I’ve been mostly looking at delrin ones. The sOMEThING Jet Set EC would be a strong one to consider. The Jet Set has weight rings that can come loose with drops, so they need constant tightening. Today I just picked up a Chico YoYoCompany ZRO. I’m looking to get other delrin off-strings. I feel this material is probably one of the better materials for off-string play.

Dang…My Aquarius has survived all I’ve bashed it with thanks to it’s rubbery rims…O Fiesta I jsut got replaced many months ago is doing well too. Currently relearning regens. WOOHOO

i can do behind the back whips about 50% of the tme ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D

k, so I just started 4a yesterday and Im learning tricks with Ben Conde (like the videos) and I cannot get this breakaway
I can get it down but it doesn’t come up after I pull on it, it just rolls away having a good ol time
And suggestions?

Are you talking about after you do a regular throw and then land it on the string, how do you bind it back?

You can bind from simply crossing the strings, then dropping the loose end into the gap, but you want to make sure you have plenty of string on the “loose” side.

No
Look at the Ben Conde tutorials and watch the breakaway tutorial, I cannot get it to pop up after it hits the end of the strings

OK, so you throw the breakaway.

You’re pinching the string when you intercept it with your non-throw hand.

I find pushing the non-throw hand DOWN helps the yoyo alter direction and then go UP and then end up back towards the regular string, popping OFF the string and then making it easier to land back onto the string.

Practice. It’s not too hard. Watch the slow motion, you’ll see it.

I’ve only ever done 4a for fun with my brother, and I use a Hayabusa SL because I’ve never really needed anything else.

That’s not what he’s talking about. It’s the throw where you throw it frontstyle and pull up at the last second.

im not super good at 4A but i like to mess around with it everyonce and awhile i can land a 4A behind the back whip and thats like my best trick ;D ;D ;D

Pull up more with your non-throw hand. It takes practice, you’ll get it. Just stay lined up real good.

Braintwister mount.

I always try and do 4A but stop after only a few minutes just because I get tired of running after it when I drop it (which is pretty often). I haven’t gotten that far. Only know the basic whips, some pops, boings, etc. Not much 4A skill in me right now. :frowning:
