Sun combo and recapture to behind the back catch!
I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I feel like this style is the most pleasant to watch somebody perform. That all looks very nice. For now, I dare not remove the tether from my hurtled objects. But the future lies undetermined.
Is there a tutorial or something for that first trick (or it’s elements)??? It looks super cool and I’d LOVE to learn it when I’m better with 4A!
Thanks man! It’s loosely based on the trick “Sun” from REWIND’s list of offstring tricks with videos for each trick Off String Trick List (4A) | YOYO INFO BASE by ■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■■ and then followed up with a skin the gerbil. I’d be happy to take a stab at making a tutorial on it if you’re interested!
Awesome tower! Would love to see how you got into it!
As a follow up I made a tutorial for the trick you were asking about @Spaghider and you can check it out here! Hope it helps! Let me know if there are parts that are unclear or that could be better explained, this is my first attempt at a tutorial and I’ve had a lot more experience with 1A than 4A so hopefully it’s useful
Offstring grinds!
Heck yeah!! That was smooth!! And that whip at the end!! Super nice!
Let’s go! That was smooth man, well done! This is the kind of stuff I’m really excited to learn in 4A so if you have any tips or tutorials on leg orbit combos I’m all ears!
As always, I recommend practicing on something wide (maybe a diabolo?). For “leg turns”, start with consistent leg orbits, then throw the yoyo somewhat high and straight up (by pulling your NTH outwards), then quickly turn and continue orbiting. I also threw an undermount recapture in. I first learned to turn quickly with a 360 whip, but that’s more difficult.
Edit: you can practice throwing straight up without doing the 180. Just pull out and try to catch it. Also, for the undermount recapture, throw the yoyo a little higher in your orbit and bring your TH over the yoyo. As it comes around, release the string with your NTH. If you can get the timing right, smoothly continue orbiting.
Those are some great tips, thank you! I’ll have to give them a try this weekend and see what I can come up with
In the meantime, here’s a boingy boing combo from earlier this week!
Happy New Year! New year, new ideas! Still trying to figure out the leg orbit combos, so I decided to take a break and work on whips and arm orbits. Enjoy!
I appreciate you not waiting until you have everything perfect and then presenting an impeccable performance. Sharing the good, the bad, and the ugly along the way helps those just starting off to see the struggles that you went through in your journey. (Now you say you don’t have any idea what I’m talking about…that was a flawless…)
Thanks man that means a lot! I’ve struggled with perfectionism a lot in my life especially as a musician so this honestly makes me so happy to read! I figure that sharing my journey with 4A as a beginner is a lot of fun and I’m glad awesome people like you appreciate it, imperfect and all! Besides, that’s the fun of it! Real life isn’t perfect and learning something new isn’t either. I’ve probably dropped my yoyo at least 100 times today filming these and decided to leave one of those in when I somehow caught it in a whip after dropping it
On that note, some fun whip ideas I’ve been experimenting with today that I’m pretty proud of! Starting to feel like I can actually do some “real” 4A
What offstring Yoyo are you using?
Using my trusty steed, the Ace-yo Vamos 2! It’s been a big help in learning these tricks because it’s wide, spins well, is pretty big overall and very responsive. I’ve enjoyed it a lot! It does tend to snag more often than my Duncan Hayabusa, but it’s a massive upgrade over that so I’m pretty happy with it
Just got a YoTricks Spire and 4A feels so much better! Still having a bit of trouble with the basic toss & catch, but I’m working on it!
Let’s go! Getting a decent upgrade makes such a difference for 4A! Would love to hear your thoughts on the Spire once you get more accustomed to it! Starting out is the hardest part but once you get going it’s such a fun style! Let us know if you have any questions, we’d love to see what you’re working on whether it’s polished or not
Late night fun 4A elements! I’m finally starting to figure out how to pop the yoyo up and catch it after doing a 180 degree turn! Still have a lot of smoothing out to do but we are venturing into real 4A territory and I’m really pumped about it
