This is partly why I plan on getting a different colour Raider next time. The other part is to learn that Tangler trick which I heard is hard to know when to dismount or something…
The 360’s and 808’s have different Diameters and Widths…
Getting my second 900 pair soon.
Wasn’t aware of that. Thanks for correcting me :]
You like 900s more than 1080s? O:! I find the 900 a little too light and a little too fragile. Maybe it’s just me.
Update! Got inside outside loops down for around 4 loops (8 in total) on my right hand. Left hand not going so well…
Me? I like 1080’s but I got a good deal on 900’s…
I have 1 1080 and looking for another (1st run red blue clear)
From what I remember, the difference between the 1st and 2nd runs of 1080s is that the gap setting can go a lot tighter on the 1080s. Do you like your gap a little wide or tight? O:
Hmm, I see. 900s still does the job :] I actually have a pair of Shaqler 900s I bought when YYE had the Shaqler Packs on sale that I still haven’t opened. I’ll probably just keep it in package for collection purposes.
lately I’ve been practicing my left hand loops and hop the fences to the point that I don’t even think about it. I got an advice by a friend to do that so all I really have to think about in the future is what my right hand is doing [wraps and other tricks]
I want/like the first run 1080’s because the tightest it goes it perfect for me.
The new ones/900’s you have to try and get them the same.
With the first runs tighten then all the way and they are the same and ready to go…
I had a pair of Shaqler’s, traded when I stunk at 2a. I regret it 99% traded for a Xcon pro-halo-superwide…
I had a pair of 360’s traded just cause they felt cheap… And were not my favorite.
Now I am getting a new pair of 900’s which I will keep because I like 2a…
Bumpity bump. Just made five new cotton strings. If anyone wants to know how to twist basic string, feel free to ask :). Loops are also coming along well.
Glad to hear them loops are going so well! Remember practice only good loops. Only good loops until you get the hang of it and it becomes natural.
It’s always an amazing feeling when the loops are going so well. Are the angles also coming along well too? 1 o’clock/11 o’clock?
BTW, seems like you’re from Canada. What up, neighbor? I live all the way in California but I got mad love to Canadians :]
I’m in Ontario, so I’m the closest thing to an American up here :D.
Angles are really working nicely for me now.
It’s sweet when you see progress once you figure out what you need to do to get things right. One of the best feelings yet.
I just nailed around 12 or so loops in a row. Can’t do it again…but that was pretty awesome.
Don’t say you can’t do it again! Pat yourself in the back because now you’ll be aiming for 12 loops in a row. And you’re probably aware of this, but with each flip on the loops the string tension also changes
Right inside loop = loosen
Left inside loop = tighten
Right outside loop = tighten
Left outside loop = loosen
Right hop the fence = tighten
Left hop the fence = loosen
I am aware, but luckily, I have sidewinder down, so tension isn’t really a problem.
Just to clarify, for the right hand, left sidewinder is loosening, and right is tightening, right?
Correct! Even with your left hand it’s the exact same [unless you have left-handed string (wound the opposite way) which is highly unlikely]
It’s funny because I never understood why string tension was important when I was just first starting, but when I finally got the hang of looping I understood why. It’s so hard to maintain a loop with bad tension.
Exactly. And I don’t plan on getting left handed string, because, well, what’s the point?
Anyway, I was at the beach last weekend and naturally I brought my 1080s but I got so frustrated because they would lag [as in sleep at the end of the string] when I just want it to loop.
But I just realized that I need to do daily lube maintenance to get it working properly each time. I almost cried when my loops were coming off so nicely.
I need to buy more 50/50 and polyester string. Gonna experiment with different string types and see which one fits my style. I currently use 50/50 but they need frequent replacement, and I’m cheap so I try to have a bang for my buck.
And other should also contribute! I’m sure Grolk and I aren’t the only 2a players here D:
Me? I play 2a dont currently because I have traded my recent pair, new pair coming soon…
Well? Whatcha need? Haha!
I really want to try a pair of Unleashed’s
I have tried a Sunset and loved it!
I think 720’s or the first run 1080 are my favorites…
I find that 2A requires more frequent application of lubrication than any other style of yoyo. I currently haven’t found the combination that works best for me.
I almost always carry thick and thin lube with me. I don’t usually carry 2A yoyos with me these days. I’m just not into 2A at the moment.
I need to start working on 2a more I’ve practiced it the most out of all of the styles except 1a but I’ve progressed the least. I think I’ve practiced 2a like 5-10 hours total and yet I’ve only gotten a semi consistent inside loops, outside loops, inside-outside loops, and hop the fence.
Using 100% yye cotton right now. Got 50 cotton strings as a deal sweetner on a trade a did so using those for now. Need to get some 50/50 poly/cotton, probably more durable. But as of now, using cotton and changing strings frequently. I already had my string snap doing a loop once, dented the wall :-X
