The second it got to 1 seconds last night I refreshed. There was exactly 53 boxes. So unless someone was able to buy one in a tenth of a second, I’m pretty sure that was the exact amount there was.
Make no mistake: it is a marketing gimmick (or let’s drop the negativity of the word ‘gimmick’ and say, “it IS marketing”). A very fun one that a lot of people enjoy every year! This year there’s extra fun and YYE gets the extra bonus of increased social media engagement (which for a company, is also marketing) and a seemingly successful attempt at less server downtime. Everybody who wants to play “wins”.
If you hate it, it’s very simple: don’t play.
Now. Lets be honest. Mystery box unboxings are the ONLY unboxings anyone should ever watch.
Well…I enjoy them sometimes, if I’m really curious what something looks like out of the box before I buy it, and I want to see the extras in the box too. It helps in the internet age of shopping. Sometimes pictures just don’t do it. But, I just wish some people would keep it short, and get to the point.
So, how were things from the Newsletter point of view? Anyone?
I thought it was a lot less cluttered actually. Didn’t get through yesterday but picked one up today, with what seemed like very little rush. I don’t really hurry these things, cause I can’t really just sit by and watch the screens load, and for the most part I can’t cope with that kind of thing either.
tuesday sale went up. i saw 45 available.
did i buy one? no. got one yesturday.
WHAT!? I didn’t even get an email…LOL
Gotta say I’m pretty bummed. Showed 45 in stock, added one to my cart. By the time I got my credit card entered it was swiped from my cart. That wasn’t fun. >:(
It said that a couple times for me but I refreshed a ton and eventually I actually got one even though it said it was out of stock. Kinda weird, maybe someones credit card didn’t go through (Which sadly, could have happened.) Maybe it was just a glitch. Either way I got that message before I could actually buy it although I had to retry a few times.
Hmmm…very interesting. I guess it’s too early to sum up the whole Tuesday, so interesting to see what happens this evening, for sure. Glad you had success slowyojoe. I have been subscribed to the newsletter for some time, and I saw the email, but didn’t read it right away. The two time slots are different than yesterday. So, the first one today happened, at what time exactly?
I got mine already, but was curious when the email would come. I never got one either.
Same happened to me, by the time it tried to process the check out they where all gone and not items available…
My wife tried grabbing me one… she said the same exact thing, 45 instock! Got her credit card number in, hit complete and then a big red X. Still hoping she got one… ???
@TotalArtist, I got the e-mail at 1:34 PM PST.
Hmmm…I got both release announcements, one at 12:18pm EST, one at 5:25pm EST…but nothing in between with the random email containing the link. It might be a Hotmail issue, but I checked my spam folder too…nothing. I’m glad I didn’t bank on today, cause my email is glitchy. When you use free email…no guarantees. Strange. :-\ I was trying to keep an eye out for the rest of you…total fail.
I validated my email, and I don’t even have the release annoucements D:
^ That’s worse. I just figured out what happened on my end. It’s confirmed, if you use a free email system, like gmail, hotmail, yahoo…you may have gotten the bad end of the stick. The drop email was at 4:36pm. I got my email about an hour later via hotmail 5:25pm. It’s a good thing I didn’t go that route of the Newsletter. For those of you who were waiting and didn’t get the email, you missed it, likely because you use free email. Free email, means no guarantees. You get it, but not always right away I guess. :-\ I guess having free email, it comes with the territory. Many opportunities left anyway.
lol what. I have gmail and got the email and saw the countdown with 2 minutes left. 4:34 was the email I got.
Not that it never works…I’m sure it does in most cases, as it does for me, but no guarantees. I feel bad for the Hotmail users. It was odd, for sure. It’s not like I could complain to Hotmail about their free email service delaying my email :-\ You get what you pay for sometimes, I’m just glad I was all set.
Any chance of avant garde 2?
