I mean, I bought 2, one in each āspayed on colorwayā. I got 2 more, to give to my kid, but I will see how my mod of cleaning the bearing works first. I donāt want him to get a dud of a yoyo.
The SPR solution looks appealing an if I have one laying around(I think I do but for A-sized bearings), I might give that a shot. I gotta check my parts bin and see what I got.
No well if they come with bearings and stuff it would be nice to have a few. Maybe i can get sone of my friends to learn with them too. They are only a dollar. Ive got more than one of those that im willing to spend.

I got some bad news for you. I am not a ābetter modderā than you because I have been āin the Communityā longer than you. ALL you guys have a good chance of eventually becoming a better Modder than I have ever been. You simply have to realize that my advantage is that I started āmoddingā cars and Harley Choppers, 45 years ago. I have Extensive Experience Customizing all kinds of stuff. I was not some kind of natural Genius. I have been learning how to Tweak things for Decades. < Learn by Doing? < I did. Was it easy for me? Nope. I screwed up this and that along the way.
You talk about painting yoyos and kendamas and such. Good for you. I was a Car and Motorcycle painter for over 20 years. I actually got good enough to Teach people how to paint Cars. But I have never, ever, painted a yoyoā¦ Ever. My yoyo modding is mainly Performance based. Painting yoyos may be Barrels of fun? I Love painting stuff. But I see No Performance advantage in painting a yoyo. Zero. Nothing wrong with you or anybody that wants to paint a yoyo or all their yoyos. Make em pretty. Make em different. Good. But to me, if it doesnt make the yoyo play better, I dont bother with it. Regardless, anything you do to a stock yoyo is modding it, technically. Modding means to Modify. So you can rightfully say you modded a yoyo and done nothing to improve itsā performance. But my efforts in modding are mainly performance based. That does not make my mods better, I just focus on different end results.
Nobody starts Karate as a Blackbelt. And I didnt start Customizing as an Expert. But as the years flew by, things started clicking and I got better.
And then in 1998 I got a yoyo. I knew NO tricks except how to throw the yoyo down and make it sleep. My girl laughed. She said, 'Boy got a toy and cant even do any tricks with it, lol. I told her, āI bet I can make it play betterā. < Cuz that is what I do. I dont do things(tricks) I do things to things(mod).
ā¦So my advantage over you is simple. I started modding stuff before your father was born. I started Customizing yoyos before you were born.
When I won the 3 consecutive World Modding Contests, you were at 3 different stages of Existence. When I won in 2001, you were prolly just being born. When I won in 2002, you prolly still crawling around in your Crib. When I won in 2003, you were most likely being potty trained and learning to eat baby cereal with your hands. When I received the National Achievement Award in 2005( For effort that improves the sport, and positively influences the Yoyo Industry), you were most likely in Kindergarten, if that.
If I fell off a 100 story building and landed directly on my head, but somehow survived. And suffered 95 percent brain damage. And of the final 5 percent, I went into a coma for 4 years and had 90 percent amnesia of the 5 remaining percent of my brain, I would still remember More about Modding yoyos than you will prolly learn in the next 10 years, if ever.

I simply meant just what I said. I will word it differently. You can to a whole lotta work to that 1 dollar yoyo, but dont expect to magically turn it into something amazing.
Mod away. I already had 3 of them before you guys even started talking about em. We have Dollar trees all over in Southern California.
I got 2 black ones and one of the Burgundy looking ones. They are tin and they vibe Crazy and they are light as a feather. But then again, they are FUN! My point was why bother bringing something back from the dead? Start with something more alive and improve it so you end up with something.

I just like the idea of trying to see what I can do, trickwise, on the Buck yoyo, dead stock? After playing with hundreds of yoyos that āflyā, it is Great to have a yoyo that is pretty much āall wrongā hahahahaha. Cheap bearing, Lame response system, feather light halves with No functional rim weight, ugly cheap sticky finish, etc. < This yoyo could not be a better challenge than it is Dead Stock. (for modding or throwing for that matter). I understand that some modders may not even like throwing. They may just love or prefer to mod. Yoing is necessarily all about throwing. Could be throwing or modding or collecting or trying to make money buying and selling. Or a combination of everything. I am certainly much better at Modding than I am at throwing, haha.

The first one I took out of the package actually spins pretty well, and it has no vibe to speak of.
For $1 they got everything right.
This thing isnāt even remotely comparable to the other dollar store **** weāve seen over the years. Itās miles better than the dirt cheap offerings from some major companies tooā¦ you canāt even buy an imperial for this price.
Is it a great yoyo? of course not IT COSTS $1.
Honestly Iād take this first one I opened over a lot of the other junk out there selling for a whole heck of a lot more money.
Of course I donāt expect them all to be great, and some will certainly be garbage by comparisonā¦ but Iād bet they still all outperform the cheap junk offered by some major companies.

When you make 50% of the posts on YYE every single day you learn a thing or two. So far it doesnāt seem that any of those things are useful or positive. But heās definitely learned them.

I will agree with some of what you said about the Dollar yoyo.
It is much better than anything they have pretty much had, ever. The Chinese did do an Excellent job considering the final end user cost is a Dollar. And I guess, for a dollar, they did get everything rightā¦ for a dollar/right/ anyways.
Since you mentioned yours played pretty smooth out of the box, I went ahead and took all 3 of mine out of the packages. And All 3 of them could vibrate my fillings loose. < The dont really Wobble. But they vibe like Crazy.
The yoyo is fun for sure. Hey, you cant even buy most candy bars for a buck, haha.
I may buy 10 more tomorrow, just to see if I can get a Kyle Smooth one.
