Yoyos lost in the wild

recently i saw a yyf northstar online and thought - i have a yellow one!

go through my cases, shelves, drawers…no northstar to be found.

then i realized - i’m missing a DM2 as well. and a FHZ - pretty sure.

what yoyos have you lost over the years?

G2 Covenant in the Helix Nebula colorway of which only 8 exist (well… 7 now) and a 44Graviti Vulcan in the Galaxy colorway

Both were marked as delivered the same day about 6 hours earlier than normal and when I went down to the mail room to look for them, there was nothing to be found; it didn’t even seem like the mail had been delivered, all the packages that had been there over the weekend were still there and I had nothing in my mailbox. Submitted lost package inquiries for them but nothing ever turned up. At this point I just assume the packages were stolen since the mailroom for my apartment complex isn’t the most secure and I’ve had a rice cooker I ordered from Amazon stolen (it shipped in packaging that revealed what it was); G2 packages have a sticker that says “Warning: Contains Functional Art” on them so I’m guessing whoever took them thought there was a bong or something inside that they could easily resell.

Fortunately I was able to purchase someone else’s Helix Nebula Covenant when they decided the shape didn’t agree with them but man that was a bummer.

I lost a plastic lime green Grind Machine:I opened my backpack to look for it and it rolled into the river…I couldn’t find it between the branches at the bottom and the poor visibility of the cloudy water:(

Somewhere around my house is one of those Takeshi mods in the blister pack. Haven’t seen it in years. You know the throw, the one with the Takeshi profile on the caps, I want to say an infinite illusions throw??? Anyway I think it’s yellow.

Around the end of 2008 or early 2009 my girlfriend was moving into a new apartment and she put together a little box of some of my things that I had left there (we were living long distance at the time) most notably my Grind Machine 2. I had multiples at the time so I left that one at her place by mistake. So she came by and dropped off the box and when I opened it later that evening, there was no Grind Machine to be found.

She swore up and down that it was in there and I believed her because she had specifically told me that my Grind Machine 2 was in the box but somehow, on the way from her old apartment to my place it either fell out or simply vanished into the ether. She searched all over and could not find it. We went all through her car and it was no where to be found. Over the years I have since hounded her about it (jokingly) and she always gives me that glare, LOL! I always tell her I’d take a replacement yoyo but she has never given in.

The most recent loss was my all time favorite Green / Pewter haze One Drop 54 in 2017. That thing was kind of special to me because of the finish, it looked super sick and also because in 2013 I had accidentally crushed it in a rocking recliner when it fell out of my pocket. The hub and axle bent. I managed to put new side effects in it and true the hub up in the lathe and the 54 was smooth as new again. I was so surprised. image if you’re curious

SO With that said. In 2017 my girlfriend and I took a trip to Ireland and I took 5 yoyos with me. Yelets, Y-Factor, 54, Rally, and the Metal Skyva. I had really only carried the Yelets, 54 or Y-Factor if we went out, I’d have one in my pocket, as you do. The others stayed in the house we were staying in. I don’t know how I managed to do it, but somehow I accidentally left the 54 somewhere in the place we were staying. I didn’t realize it until we were unpacking our bags back home here in Indiana. I still get bummed out thinking about it haha. It just puzzles me because I kept them all in one spot so I wouldn’t lose any and would grab one when we’d go out and return it when we got back. :man_shrugging:

It just makes me wonder if someone found it? I also wonder, what did they do with it? Deep down I hope someone is at least throwing it and enjoying it now and it didn’t get pitched in the bin or something. Luckily I haven’t lost many yoyos. Hopefully that’s all of them haha!

I lost my only Anti-Yo (The Bizne$$) that I got back in high school  It’s somewhere in the blackhole that is my dad’s tools shed…

I know it’s not one of those high dollar Anti-Yo’s, but it was one of my first throws I got back in high school and it was the coolest thing to me at the time.

The business was awesome! I was a ton of fun. Especially opening it up and having all of the dollar bill confetti everywhere! Super bummer you lost it!

Yeah! I definitely doesn’t get enough love because it was a cheaper one and it came out during the Bape 1 era. Glad to see some appreciation for it!

I could just imagine the response after opening the package:

What the [censored]? A [censored] yoyo?! What the [censored] am I supposed to do with a [censored] yoyo?!

I bought a Onedrop Format: C about 8 years ago from someone in Canada.

That yoyo has been stolen somewhere along the postal line or is sitting in some dark corner of a sorting center somewhere.

In middle school while waiting for the school bus my Coca Cola Russell totally flew right off the string during a forward pass into the ravine across the road in HK. I thought about looking for it, but then Jack Handey’s words about keys floated back in time to my prepubescent lizard brain: "If you ever drop your keys into a river of molten lava, let 'em go, because man, they’re gone.” And I have had a small, yoyo-sized hole in my heart ever since :heavy_heart_exclamation:

I haven’t lost any like this, but when I was in college just starting to get into yoyoing a room I had just started renting had an SB2 still in the box in the closet from a previous tenant and that was my first metal yoyo and I still have it.

That’s strange it just got left behind and the room was THEN rented by a newish yoyoer! Very cool! Back in the summer of 2016 after I got pretty good at looping but then was unable to do more than one loop I was outside at work trying to loop but failing miserably. I got so frustrated that I swung the Duncan Hornet at the gravel road as hard as I could. Maybe I whacked it a few times. It was smashed to pieces. I picked up the pieces and threw them into the field as hard as I could. This did not make me feel better. It made me feel sick.
