Yoyos lost in the wild

This isn’t a perfect example of something I personally lost. But more a perfect example of something that somebody did that kind of embarrassed them but at least they were honest enough to fess up to it. When everybody involved happens to be good friends I guess it makes it easier to be honest even if you have to eat a little crow or however you want to see it🤔

Here’s an amazing short story. And when I’m telling a story just a fact that it is short is in itself amazing.

About 10 years ago a whole Lotta folks showed up at a Major Yoyo Contest. That particular year I didn’t show up. A sponsor Duncan player(a friend) had a few of his signature yo-yos that he had personally tweaked a little bit and he had them with him at the contest. He really wanted to give one to me but I didn’t happen to be there. Once he realized that he found somebody else that was a mutual friend that he could trust to make sure that the yo-yo got to me. So he wouldn’t have to mail it or anything no big deal.

The gift giver and the middleman recipient, both went back to enjoying the Yo-yo Contest, etc…

Once my yo-yo friend returned home from the contest he put some of his stuff in the closet unpacked the rest and went back to the Daily grinds of life.

About six or seven years later my yo-yo associate decided to do some housecleaning and straighten out some stuff in the closet. As he was going through one of his bags lo and behold there was the yo-yo that was given to him that he was supposed to give to me years ago. The original giver never asked me hey what did you think about that yo-yo? So I never had the opportunity to say what yo-yo? Ignorance is bliss you could say.

Once my friend discovered the yo-yo, he could’ve just said nothing and just shrugged his shoulders. But seeing how he’s one of the most honest guys I ever met in my life he decided to cough it up contact me and say, ‘Oh man, you’re not gonna believe this but…

So the next time I met up with my friend he handed me the yo-yo sealed in his package with an autograph from my other friend (a yo-yo celebrity) and I took the yo-yo home and I put it in a drawer in the kitchen at my old house.

A few years later my girl asked me if she could use that one bottom drawer I should say in the kitchen to put in some Tupperware stuff that she had purchased. She asked me if I could put the yo-yos in that drawer in a box and take them down to the shop? Sure ‘Mo’ said, and I pulled out the whole drawer and started taking ‘inventory’.

At the bottom of the drawer in the left corner towards the back there it was on lost and remembered again and I was like what the heck?

This took place over a period of about a decade. And the yo-yo is still in the sealed container and the sharpie autograph on the outside plastic looks like it was just done a week ago.

Fact is stranger than fiction🐥

I once lost my yt sage in white with an unresponsive bearing😢 now I just got a purple one with an responsive bearing ( and without response pads ). I searched for flowable silicone everywhere they seem to not have it at my town.now I have self made response pads out of kid glue and I have a sage that plays kinda unresponsive. And what happens yesterday? The bearing seat on one site brocket and now I need to unscrew the yoyo a little bit so the bearing can spin ( and that’s my only yoyo)

I posted a couple of years ago about my Masamini falling out of my pocket at a Bar Mitzvah. Hopefully some now 15yo, is shredding on yoyos, after finding it.

FedEx just delivered a whole package of yoyos to the wrong address, and they’re not coming back. If anyone sees some Shutters with the Rehearse Live logo on them on ebay, please let me know!

The most painful though is a 4" teak top Erik Wolff made for me. I made two origami pieces to trade for it. Man I loved that top! I was throwing it in the backyard and my 3yo (at the time) ran to the front and to the street. I put it down to chase after him and forgot to retrieve it. Someone must have picked it up.

Hopefully the person who got your package forwards them to you. Can’t you get ANY info?

If my guess about the part of town it ended up in is correct, I’m not hopeful.

I think @YOHANS is just sending me a new batch. The zip was wrong, and probably my fault. It was the zip for my office.

Still, they should have done a correction instead of just making a guess. I discovered later that they had corrected it on the previous shipment. They got that one to me fine.

I bought a powder coated Cascade from a major collector that also runs a website… Supposedly, it got dropped off at their shipping center, but it was never scanned in by USPS. Poof, gone! It’s been years, but it would be funny if it showed up randomly. I suspect it has a new owner now though.

I wonder if he thought you were being ungrateful? Did you contact him later and say, “Hey BTW, thanks for that yoyo!”?

I guess you’re concerned about protecting the IDs of those involved, but it sure would be nice to see a pic!

I lost the side plate of my Duncan Ballistic as well as some of the weights. Walking across a wooden bridge, bridge was arched, miscalculated the distance to the bridge surface since it was curving upward, throw cracked into the planks and weights went everywhere. Side plate popped off and flew into the water. Spent some time wading down the shallow creek looking for it but no chance of finding a clear piece of plastic in clear flowing water. I loved that yo-yo. I think I gave it a ceremonial burial or something afterwards, couldn’t stand to play it with the side missing.

Lost my PLSTC like a month ago and still have not found it ;(

I feel your pain. I consider people who own one lucky since it is such a desired yoyo to own but only a limited amount were ever made.

I lost my first yoyo right after I got my second, four years ago. I recently found the first yoyo, but only one half of it appeared. I have no idea what happened to the other half.
