Does the moonrock cut string?
My moon rock mono pheasant did for about a week, I was using it heavily.
Micro particles of moon rock get flung off of the bearing post area, a lot of debris built up in the bearing too (it was actually an amazing dry lube, like graphite, to be honest).
I think it’s those tiny particles that wear the strings down.
I wiped down the post and inside the axle threads daily with thin lube (i add white spirit to my thin lube)
it’s played like a dream since.

Is it cerakote? Cause that will do that to the string at first as well.
Definitely moon rock.
Not had any new cerakotes yet, so guess they’ve already been broken in lol
Is Moon Rock another type of anodizing or finish? I always thought when i saw moon rock yoyos they were just white, so what is Moon Rock?

I believe “moon rock” is micro arc oxidation (a.k.a plasma electrolytic oxidation).

We welcome James Heder to team yoyofriends! We first met James at the 2024 US National yoyo contest and we’re instantly amazed by his skills in 1A and 4A.
