Yoyo Shelf/Storage, what are you using in 2021?

Wow! Some really great ideas for storing and displaying yo-yos! I’ve been racking my brain on this topic for some time now. Thanks for pointing me to this thread Mr. Jordan. (I wonder if I should delete the duplicate thread I started…?)

Just picked this up today. Leather briefcase for 2$… took me less than 10 min to watch a YouTube and crack the code lol. Will fit about 20 yoyos and need to find foam.

Nice! And when you carry it around the neighborhood people will think you’re delivering or just picked up ransom money. Cool.

I can also randomly say “cancel my 3pm meeting- I’m busy”

BREAKING NEWS : suspicious man walking all over town wearing handcuffs attached to an unusually large leather briefcase :joy:

UPDATE: Man found dead, hand severed from his arm as thieves took what they assumed was a highly valuable briefcase and the man apparently resisted. Investigators later found the briefcase broken open and tossed into a bush nearby. It turns out that the prized possessions were kids’ toys, which the thieves left strewn about in apparent disappointment.

I put the case in my car from the store, shut the door, and instantly knew I can’t keep it in plain view. It’s so inviting and mysterious. Whats inside?!

I’ve been collecting yo-yos for 35 years and my collection has grown out of storage solutions many, many times. My current storage set up is a set of three wide Alex drawers from IKEA lined with kitchen shelf liners. Each drawer can handle around 60 yo-yos. I like the drawers because they keep my office from looking too cluttered, and give me a lot of space for yo-yoing. The majority of my 1,000 or so yo-yos are now either in these drawer units or in cases/boxes in the IKEA Kallax units below the drawers. You can also see my string collection hanging from a lamp for easy access.

My Tom Kuhn throws are primarily stored in 18-compartment jewelry trays, heirloom boxes or in the original boxes they came from. They get the premium placement on the bookshelf because they’re beautiful to look at and I don’t throw them as often.

On top of the drawer units I have a couple of different options for storing yo-yos. The metal rack on a Brada laptop stand (again. from IKEA) works well for wooden yo-yos and generally I use it as a holding station for new yo-yos I am adding to my collection. I also use spice jar organizers on the laptop stands and that works great for plastic and metal yo-yos.

These photos remind me that I need to hang those longhorns on the wall. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

I have posted this display shelf before, but I threw some paint on it. And it has a much better selection of yoyos to choose from now.

You’ve seen Repo Man or Pulp Fiction, right? It’s that.

Rolling with an expanded version of what I posted about a year ago. Two of those cheap Target shelves for the throws, just added some of the cooler boxes to the desk layout today actually. Have a handful of “overflow” throws in my drawer, so, yeah, that display mostly covers it. Hoping to have fewer throws at the end of the year than I do now, but we all know how that goes. Then again, my current number isn’t far off what it was a year ago.

Phenomenal collection and display. What do you do with packaging for all the yo-yos in drawers? That is my problem as I end up with either piles of random boxes or all the yos kept in original boxes and harder to display?

Nice telescope!

Clear sky and happy yoyo.

I used to always toss the boxes unless they were something special (or a Tom Kuhn box). In the past year or so I’ve ben flattening the boxes and storing them in the basement. I don’t keep yo-yos that I’d throw in boxes; I prefer to make it easy to pick up and play with them.

Awesome display!!

I look every time I’m there and havent seen them either.

Just got this, its from aceyo holds 6 with a middle section. The reflective part on the front is dumb, would been so much more clean straight black. Also trying to track down foam for the briefcase, but its so expensive and ugly pale green…
