Yoyo not staying asleep very well

Ummm I think string is all of the player’s preference.
I mean there’s a lot of great string like Toxic. But I like to stick to my Kitty String 1.5 ;D

I think my concern is mostly just that I’ll get something too thick, which will invariably bind up tot he brake pads too quickly.

Then for the time being, just stick with YYE 100% poly bulk strings.

Once your throw improves and your technique is cleaner(say, maybe a few months, maybe more, maybe less), then you can start looking into stuff like YYSL Type X or Twisted Strings Trixta. I found Toxic Strings Thick Metz to be too thick, as well as their Yellow Jackets, however both strings were nice and soft.

Thick string and sloppy play don’t go well together. The advantage of thick string is usually it being softer, bouncier, lasts longer and usually whips good as well as holding tension a bit better. Regular “higher end strings” don’t tend to last quite as long, a bit less bounce, and while they may whip good and do hold tension well, the thicker holds tension a bit better, lasts a bit longer and has more bounce due to it being thicker. But it also comes down to preferences too.

After you’ve been playing unresponsive for a while(don’t use thick string in unresponsive yoyos except maybe loopers), you may wish to experiment with strings. Buy some sample packs or small quantities(5 or 10 counts) of a bunch of different stuff and see what you like.

Sample packs are a great idea.
I know toxic has them for a few bucks

I would get kitty (regular) before I get 100% poly yoyoexpert. They last much longer. Ive only tried regular and yoyoexpert poly and kitty is much better IMO.

This is kinda costly but I think it’ll save you money in the future.
Get the smallest pack of the strings that intrigue you and go from there. Mind you, just don’t forget the suggestions of what you’re of string you should pick up, it’ll make your choices a tad bit narrow

Thanks guys, I’ll do that.

Yo, kitty string does it all.

Well, you could have cleaned it with the wrong thing. I have never actually cleaned a bearing so I don’t even know what to use.
