Yoyo caps

Greetings YoYoExpert forum members.
I’ve noticed that you should take your yoyo cap off eventually for thumb grinds, but I’ve also noticed that Andre keeps one of the caps of his Dark Magic on. Now, obviously you only need one cap off for thumb grinds, but is there any importance to keeping the other one on? Or is it merely a question of aesthetics?

Thanks in advance,
Balamis

André does it for looks.

It doesn’t matter how you do it, so long as you have at least one cap out.

You also don’t really need to take the caps off the thumb grind on most yoyos.

^^

the caps on most of the yoyo’s out there are for pure asthectic reasons on my DM I play it with both caps off, and if I could get the caps out of my SEVERE I would play t capless as well.

Thanks a lot! I suspected it’s merely a question of looks, but I wasn’t sure, and didn’t want to take the other cap off and then realize I made some damage…Also, as I took the first cap off the yoyo started to make a different sound sometimes…A metallic sound, as if I flicked the rims lightly (I’m using a Dark Magic) I actually like that, I just wanted to make sure it’s not something to be alarmed by…So is it?

Thanks again,
Balamis

No, it’s nothing to be alarmed by. The caps just change the way the yo-yo resonates.
