The MMOI is 17000ish so I think it would be pretty powerful. I don’t know of any hybrids that have SS rims other that the Iceberg but I am not the most well versed in yoyos either.
Design goal: Modern Hybrid heavily inspired by the Yoyojam Hitman
I thought of fixing the high wall issue but not flaring out the design into a V shape as that would completely change the play feel. The low wall makes the shape look like a combination of the X-ConVict step with the Hitman rims.
Rendered with both an old school glossy surface and modern matte transluscent surface
Specs:
Dia: 54mm
Width: 40mm
Weight: ~65g
10mm axle
Material: 6061 + PC
This looks cool! I like the fingerspin hub. What’s the MMOI for one half?
The hub was not intended to be optimized for fingerspins but for laser engravings. It was also intended to contrast the rounded and chunky appearance of the rims.
MMOI of a half = ~11,307
Very cool I like this aesthetic and I usually hate a glossy finish
oh yea thats a yoyojam
Specs:
Width: 55mm
Diameter: 50mm
Half Weight: 31.422gms
Assembled Weight: 65.844gms
MMOI(of half): 14034
Body Material: 7075 Aluminum
Rim Material: 303 Stainless Steel
Axle: M4 x 10mm x 0.7mm
Bearing Size: Size C
Pads: “Standard 19mm”
Thoughts anybody?
I made a bimetal design inspired by the yoyorecreation Messiah. I have two drafts because the first one had lower walls that gave it a streamlined shape like the Draupnir but undersized. The second draft is closer to the original beefier shape. I feel like I want to be faithful to the original cup design, so I may revise these two designs again.
I also wanna make a bimetal version of the Six but I am unsure if I wanna make it an outer ring or midship ring bimetal.
Specs:
7075 + SS
Diameter = ~50mm
Width = ~40mm
Weight (Blasted draft) = ~64g
Weight (glossy draft) = ~66g
Design commission I did recently. Client gave the specs but didn’t have a sketch ready. Thankfully, I asked them for existing yoyos that can be used as reference, and some design cues they wanted to incorporate. Thankfully I zeroed in on a design.
Specs:
7068
Diameter: ~55mm
Width: ~47mm
Weight: ~65g
I designed a 4A yoyo. 4A yoyos are probably the most difficult to prototype & design
Diameter: ~70mm
Width: ~67mm
Weight: ~76g
There has been a recent trend in the last decade of yo-yos getting wider. This has been a relatively slow trend. It is time to change that. What we need is a rapid evolution. Presenting the next leap in competitive yo-yoing:
With a width of 100mm, you’ll have no trouble landing the yo-yo on at least one string! Those difficult horizontal hop tricks you are struggling with, so easy now!
Specs:
Width: 100mm
Diameter: 56mm
Half Weight: 32.11gms
Assembled Weight: ~68gms
MMOI: 15354
Axle: 12mm
Bearing: Size C
Response: “Standard 19mm”
Body Material: Magnesium
Note: There was no option for magnesium in my rendering software unfortunately. So this is just what it would look like if it was aluminum.
I think that this yo-yo would be extremely hard to manufacture successfully and also extremely hard to play with and throw successfully. If it existed I think it would definitely be a fun yo-yo.
What do y’all think?
now this is a banger. i bet i could 3d print this. i already have a 70mm wide offstring, whats 3 more centimetres
Ahh yes the miniteeeeeeeeeee
at what point does one stop being a yoyo and become an hourglass shaped stick with string? i love the part where you say “at least one string” challenging indeed!
Would anyone here actually buy this if it existed?
@Splizacular @Captrogers @eatpotaro
The magnesium would make it pretty expensive. Idk. If it was al6 I would consider it but I realize the design it relying on a different density
i was going to ask this but if it was made in plastic LMFAO (no)
its a bit wide for me. i started narrow, worked my way wider til i hit yyf monster, then worked my way back. for me over ~48mm it feels unwieldy to me. i feel like way better players than me can make it work and maybe even innovate some new tricks that utilize that width
Haha. I’m sure a machinist could figure it out for the right price!
3D printed yoyos! First one is made of PETG plastic. Second one is a Bi-Plastic and has an ABS body with press fitted PETG rims(and a press fitted fingerspin hub). Both are screwed together with an M4 Bolt and Hex Nut.

Also big thanks to @TMAN_PRINTS who helped me out a lot in the beginning. Would anyone buy this?
