There is an option when setting up a meeting that allows you to set it for a recurring meeting, and an option that says something like “Allow others to join without the host.” That makes it so you don’t have to be there at all. I use zoom all the time, but just cancelled my account, otherwise I could’ve set it. When I get a minute at my computer on Monday I can screenshot where it’s at if you don’t see it.

Realizing this is a large block of text here’s the BLUF (bottom line up front) I recommend either continuing to use Jake’s paid zoom account until we feel comfortable with funding our own paid service or utilizing skype. We could also use both and just have Skype as a backup if G2 and boomer club scheduling conflict.
So I agree until we are more established a paid service adds operations overhead which means a budget which means we would want structure. Financial officer and review of budget on a cadence to ensure club funds are being spent proper. Right now all funds are fundraiser funds and have a pre agreed upon purpose which can be a bit more loose.
As for free options. I don’t love using Jake’s paid account but it’s a solid option if we want to keep using zoom specifically.
At the moment we have about 50 members you can assume maybe 1/3 will ever show up all at once but should plan for at least half meaning we should expect maybe 16 people would should up but should plan for 25 folks for capacity. (This isn’t a hard rule but can help set expectations)
I think an hour long meeting is sufficient and if we needed longer we could book two meetings back to back.
Good better best options
A good solution would be to use one of the hour long meeting options teams, zoho or google meet (I prefer teams myself)
A better solution would be either to give up some features and use Skype or keep using Jake’s zoom account (note we would be reliant on G2 and if Jake has a business need we may have to reschedule to accommodate)
Best would be when the club is a bit more established to do another AoA focusing on cost and additional communication features and choose a paid platform webex, zoom, etc that fits the clubs needs and budget.
I like the idea of a social media page or group thing and having the option of real time chat for a club but I don’t trust Facebook and I don’t want multiple platforms to login to personally and none of the current existing platforms would cover the entire club effectively.
I also think a scheduling or calendar service might be useful I could look into that if whatever we choose doesn’t have built in options.
Personally I’m hovering on the better options at the moment for flexibility either Skype or using Jake until we are comfortable with raising funds to get our own paid service. (The zoom paid option was left in the current AoA for budgetary purposes to get an idea of how much a service will cost the club if we go that path in the future.
I’m also open to any further suggestions or ideas as I admit I don’t know every web meeting platform out there today and may have missed an option.

Just a thought. Do we want a website for the YYBC? I can easily get one up using 11ty and Netlify so there are no monthly hosting costs.

Jitsi is another video meeting option. Haven’t looked at the limitations, but I’ve seen it work for smaller groups.

On another topic;
Final Shave of Movember.
The real purpose of Movember is to Wear/Grow a mustache as a badge of Honor. The goal is to raise awareness to Men’s Health.
We as men “generally” focus on others before ourselves. Maybe it is the way we are wired or our upbringing. Family, the people we care for, even work come before ourselves. While this is admirable; Who will be there if we are not?
We need to change this stigma and take care of ourselves too. Our Health and mental well being need to be a paramount part of our lives also.
For those that participated, Thank You. For those just reading, I hope you internalize what I have said.
My Movember Stache this year was a 6 month labor of love. December 1st, it is coming off.
It has started a lot of conversations over the past few months. Seeing a 40 something year old man with a Handlebar Mustache is not a common sight. Especially here in SoCal.
If you are not feeling well, please get checked out. If it has been a while since your last Doctor Visit, please schedule and follow through.
This is a tough time of year mentally. If you feel you are struggling or feeling depressed, you are not alone. This isn’t something to just “Tough Through”.
Please take care of yourselves. Asking/Seeking help is not “Weakness”. It is Strength! Be the one who illicit change, and be there for the People you care and provide for!
