Funny.

I like inks. And the blue is an ink so nothing crazy there.

The green is way better in play to me even if it’s more abrasive, purple whips really well and feels nicest but play is slower and idk not as satisfying.

So @Pun1sh3R’s blue is different than @Captrogers’ blue. I have everyone Proto 1 & Proto 2, then a bonus third string. Cody got a Detergent proto, which is 100% Rayon. Brandon got an Ink.

I believe @Snoopy is getting an Elixir as their third, and @Yodaddyo got a Catalyst.

@JSERR … I forgot what their 3rd string is  It may be a Vapor Prototype.

I just got back from a work trip and they came in while I was out, so planning on testing them out tonight and tomorrow probably!

Mine were:
Purple/Pink - Proto 1
Green/Yellow - Proto 2
Blue Steel Catalyst

I should get my string soon, I may have gotten it already, I just haven’t checked yet. My mailbox is a bit of a walk from my house, and the angle is so steep you can’t get back up if you’re driving in the snow.

oh, and would Elixir work well on any Fixie? or just my butterfly?

It’ll work well on anything!

Gah! I should’ve known that! I have Underestimated the capabilities of Throw-Yo string…

I tested one for a bit. I want to say it was purple/green. I could be wrong but I think that was the colors. From what I remember, the whips and slacks are very fast, to the point where they require almost no effort, but the tension was a little wonky. It could be too tight on half the string and too lose on the other half. It was also a little rough on my soft skyline fingers lol

I had something come up this week and haven’t had a chance to try the other two and I can’t remember what colors they were either. I’m hoping I’ll get some time to mess with the rest sometime this week.

@rkalajian I assume I should give feedback for the Proto strings, right?

I totally should! but she currently has 9 little Gremlins at home to take care of, and is still recovering from the 4 that have moved out.

So she needs yo-yo more than any of us!!:rofl::rofl:

I lied, I’ve put in about 30-40 minutes on each here now since I started thinking about them, haha.

Purple/Pink - Proto 1

  • Awesome for slacks, suicides, and whips. Really fun and whippy, gets thrown around nicely. A little abrasive and stiff (though this was wearing in a tad as I played it), also fantastic on response/binds.

Green/Yellow - Proto 2

  • I liked this one a bit more, was softer to me and still good all-arounder for play. Binds were a tad slippy on it for my preference but a really good general play string.

Blue Steel Catalyst

  • This one for me felt super bouncy. I know some people like that, but it wasn’t quite up my alley as much. I felt at times the string was doing it’s own tricks along with the yoyo, haha. Not bad, and as mentioned, I know some people like a springier string, but personally, was not my favorite of the three.

I think if the Proto 1 were a bit softer, or the Proto 2 were a teensy less slippy and had a tad more whip to it, it would be right in a sweet spot for me. Like a Proto 1.75.

Either way, if I had to pick one, it’s super close between the 1 & 2, but I think I would lean more towards Proto 2. Will still probably use Proto 1 as a dedicated slack play string though, haha.

@rkalajian When did you get my string sent out? They haven’t arrived yet, and I can’t wait to get them. :yum:

Yours went out at the same time as the rest. Keep an eye out! Should arrive soon.

So I’ve got a Proto 3 that uses Wooly Nylon and it’s MUCH softer, with similar play!

Sounds like a winner! Thank you for letting me test these. Will definitely be using them still!
My throws are slowly but surely being converted over to various Throw-Yo strings, haha!
