Worlds as it happens

Paul Kerbals 1A though.

Somebody explain to me how an offstring kickflip is any harder than any other style. It isn’t even an offstring trick! I don’t think the judges should score that for much.

Andrew Maider made it! Yeeeeaaaahhh!
And Rei Iwakura, WOW!
That was insane! Perfect!
Really disappointed Luis didn’t make it.

That’s like saying a 4a suicide isn’t an offstring trick. Technically, it doesn’t leave the string. Same thing goes for an Eiffel tower or any fake knot trick.

Jake Elliot! Woohoo!
Takeshi’s going down lol

#discodancing

No, it isn’t. 4a suicide is made different because the yoyo is off the string. The string has just on strand, and there is no loop to catch. But a kickflip is not any different whatsoever in 4a. Once you are in the stall mount, you can’t tell whether or not the yoyo is on the string. The trick should not score much because it was not an offstring trick. I don’t get why Steve was going crazy over it. It isn’t any harder than the ordinary version. I’ve hit it myself. I even showed ed haponik at worlds. He didn’t go crazy over it.

Note: My profile says my favorite trick is 4a kickflip rejection. It’s not the same as the fixy trick. It’s a rejection trick.

When are 4a and 5a results exactly?

That’s a wrap on Day 2, results to come. Lots of great performances today, Rei Iwakura outright killed the 4A division and the same for Tessa Piccillo in the Women’s division. Great stuff, love being able to watch it live.

My predictions for 5a and 4a top three

4A:

  1. Rei Iwakura
  2. Ian Johnson
  3. Michael Nakamura

I’m not too sure about 3rd. Naoto and Zac could take the spot.

5A:

  1. Takeshi Matsuura
  2. Jake Elliott
  3. Sora Ishikawa

Jake and Sora might be switch around, but I don’t think so.

I didn’t really watch the women’s division, so I couldn’t tell you anything.

Anybody else?

I don’t even try to predict contest results, because what I like and what wins contests are not usually the same thing  I also missed all of 5a, so will have to catch the rerun on that.

It’s completely different for me. I generally like the contest winning freestyles. For 5a, sora, jake and takeshi were the top freestyles. I sort of like the first guy. He’s similar to jonrob.

Tessa is next level. :o

That performance was off the scale, which only goes to highlight that we need more women who can compete at that level. If there were 5-10 women competing at the level Tessa did today, I would agree with those that said there didn’t need to be a women’s division. If she’d hit that routine yesterday, Tessa would have made the 1A Semi-Finals today.

Rei won 4A
Tessa won the Women’s division.

waiting on 5a, but I’m guessing Takeshi…

yup

5a: Sora, Jake, Takeshi
4a: Naoto, Michael, Rei
Women’s: Corli, not sure, Tessa

Why Chloé Nonsonègo was disqualified?

Results for 5A 4A and Women’s up on yoyonews.

Will not post just in case someone calls spoiler but they’re up if you want em. Can’t say I’m all too suprised with the results. :stuck_out_tongue:

I posted them on the first post about 45 minutes ago  It’s not like anyone could really go find the videos to watch the freestyles without running into the results first.
