OWYYC def less prestigious than worlds imo. I’d say it’s just a notch below. I’d prob compare it to like US Nats or AP. Unfortunate we didn’t have worlds the last few years, he’d prob have at least 1 other worlds title if not more.
At this point though with his dominance I could def see him challenging Mickey as 1a GOAT if he keeps going. I could be wrong but I feel like he’s prob gonna start slowing down soon, he’s getting older and I think the culture in Korea is it’s extremely difficult to invest as much time into these hobbies as you reach adulthood due to school/work/military/etc.
Edit: Oh wait, is he still only like 15? I guess he still has like 3 years at least. Consecutive 2 OWYYC and 4 worlds should be enough of a resume to surpass mickey
Damn hyped to see Connor Seals got 4th last night. I fell asleep before the full result sheet hit. Crazy Evan missed second by .5. Mir Kim is a beast, I dont see how anyone can catch up to him.
Just noticed Connor missed third by .4 too. So close between 2nd and 4th.
Also the thing Jakub did with the Hunter song if it was on purpose, which it kinda seemed, looks like it backfired.
Kinda hard to explain without watching the freestyle but he used hunters song he’s been using all year for the beginning of his freestyle. Which apparently someone else used first. He wore a shirt that said “what are you gonna do about it?” It seemed like Jakub was trying to play a villain role is the best way to explain I guess?
Idk 4 world titles, 5 runner ups, and 15 finals is pretty good to me

I haven’t been able to watch the routines yet. Did any of the 5A players integrate Astro Style into their final routines? I see a lot of Astro tricks in the clips from Osaka, so I was curious if any astro tricks made it on stage.

I didn’t see anyone doing any non-standard 5a styles, but I wasn’t paying intense attention.
beside hajime’s (amazing) performance, my favourite of the weekend was chen yang in 1a finals. paired his tricks very well with merry christmas mr. lawrence by the late great ryuichi sakamoto.
