When I first started my transaction, there were 39 in stock. By the time I finished, there were 16. I mean wow! The community has spoken, wood IS good. I’m so glad that I snagged one and look forward to other wooden yoyos in the future.
Ditto, but I’m excited for the folks who got one and to hear how everyone likes it. And it’s been very cool to see this come to fruition. I’ll be looking forward to trying one out at a contest in the not too distant future.
Rumor has it, they were gone in ten minutes. If that’s the case, we all have something to be excited about. If killer wood yoyos are becoming that popular, we might get to see some cool stuff in the near future. Also, having them sell out so fast makes me hopeful for another run.
Has anyone played the three different “woods” of the baldwin? Ash, maple and walnut. I wonder if the weight is that much different? One of each would be cool to have though.
I consoled myself today with the purchase of an ash Baldwin. I was wondering the same thing. From what I gather, ash is the heaviest of the three but I don’t think it could be that huge of a difference.
Given the material, the weight differences between the different materials are average differences. For example, though the ash version may be typically heavier, you can find a maple version that might be heavier than a particular ash version.
Yeah, specs are listed for all three versions as weight of 54g*. There is an asterisk which notes that there is some variation because wood is “natural.” The difference seems mainly the hardness, grain, color and so on, not the weight. The softest seems to be maple, then Ash, then Walnut, which is the hardest and most expensive of the three. That’s my understanding.
