Why not d-bearings for normal-sized yos?

While I know that there are a couple full-size yoyos with d-bearings out there I am curious as to why C is still the reigning choice for most yos while d is reserved for undersized. From a physics standpoint wouldn’t a d bearing allow for longer spintime due to a smaller axis of rotation?

but limiting factor is more likely friction, strength of throw, and string length

swapping to a smaller bearing (and pads) can up the efficiency, but not provide extra energy to be converted into rotation

i would guess smaller bearings are harder to make as well

Some of it I would assume cones with availability and standardization. C bearings work are relatively cheap and used nearly everywhere and in multiple hobbies like skates, skateboards and RC. It makes the hobby more accessible to a wider audience. Not saying that’s perfect either because those hobbies have there own outliers and sizing too however it’s like the 19mm pad situation. Most yoyos have a common set of maintenance items that are interchangeable.
