Good call. I was really only considering the 2, OG and Wide as production runs and not small releases… But you are absolutely correct, heck I have an OG, Wide, and the Shu-Ta they made with the delrin cups.
I would say thats why I was really hoping for a different release with a bi-metal. When I seen the pre-releases, I was a little disappointed it was the same shape. Then with this I was really disappointed.
Shutter was the yoyo that brought me back to yoyo. it was the first “good” yoyos i ever bought and i didnt even know how to bind. I do not want you think im seriously bashing it or anything.
Not at all…
It was my first “real metal” I owned as well. I used it for a long time before I started branching out. I think that’s why it holds a special place for me. I will say the wide angle still one of my favorites, only over shadowed by the Akita. A bi-metal wide angle would have been tops.
It would not surprise me at all to see that happen at some point. I know everyone would call it a Bi-Shutter, but Shutter-Bi has a much better ring to it.
If they want to keep the bimetal name in the spirit of camera terminology, then maybe the Focus Ring Shutter.
I guess Gentry didn’t make a bi-metal to keep his yoyos budget friendly. Unlike Evan Nagao, who uses a $150 yoyo, gentry uses one nearly 1/3 of the price. The Replay is also cheaper than the Wedge. Although the Ti-Shutter was $300, it was more of a collector’s piece than a new competition yoyo. By keeping the price low, Gentry’s yoyos are more accessible to beginners. This is why they didn’t go ‘beyond’ with his signature comp throw, which Evan did lol
Tried the Bimetal ND, it was lit . Although it’s so new they don’t even have a name for it , the boxes for these just said YOYO on them .
Awesome! I wanted one but couldn’t make it out to PNWR so I’ll have to wait.
Does the bimetal nd plays similar to a nd or nd ultra? How are the differences?
It’s been awhile since I last tried the ND ultra but I would describe the Bi-metal as a tiny bit less floater but a lot stabler ND ultra. Never tried the ND
But just like Gentry said, we got all the spin time and stability we need. More of it is not definitely a better yoyo and it comes down to preferences.
I actually kinda like my new L better than my Bliss. (or it could just be the new yoyo honeymoon )
Im dubbing the new shutter color the BS Shutter (Bi-metal Styled shutter)
Isn’t it technically a Shutter Wide Angle? I like to call it the Swangle.
An absolutely appropriate name.
What about a bi-metal shutter, but use 7075 for the rings? Not sure if this would make much difference or is even possible, but may give the Shutter that extra little bit of power it needs without losing too much of the original feel. I really do enjoy the feel and play of both the og and wide angle, but it does seem they die out a bit quicker than many similar weighted throws of the same material in my collection. I personally greatly prefer the feel of most monos rather than a bimetal, but think the bi-Shutter idea is intriguing. Maybe since Gentry launched the new ICON brand they should call it the BI-CON.
66% Shutter is not a Yoyofactory release. Two of the same yoyo, one at 67 and the other at 64g don’t count either as seperate models.
Ohhh, well that changes everything!!

Yes it does.

It was hilarious thinking about it though…
