Might as well learn a bunch just to have them in your bag of tricks. I’m sure they will be a breeze for you to master. If thats what meta is then I really like meta cause thats a lot like skateboarding. Everyone learns and does the same tricks. Kickflips, treflips, heel flips… everyone does them. I personally love the way a lot of the comp tricks look.
That Mir Kim kid is different. Literally looks like a robot he’s so good
I really wish comp scoring was different but it is what it is
You’re too kind! I’m not sure to be honest. See, I really haven’t learned any meta material before. It’s very different form anything I’ve done. I’ve really only thrown tricks that I’ve made for like 90% of my yoyoing life. We’ll see.
Yeah, he’s insane. Now THAT is a level I will probably never touch because I’ve got too much other stuff going on in my life. He must throw for 7+ hours a day…
Man I think you have the talent to be one of the best even in your limited time. I’ve never seen someone do that whip to double gt like that. Your skills and style are insane
I’ve learned a lot of “meta tricks” lately. If I can do it the way I can, I just know it will be way toooooooo easy for you
Again, you’re too kind.
As I frequently say, I see people in the internet all the time that make me look like I’ve been throwing for 5 minutes. I have no illusions about my status as far as skill level. It is by no means exceptional when compared with MANY throwers out there.
And that double GT trick took me like 20 tries to hit, haha. I’d never be able to do it on stage.
Man come on… You know you will have that double gt mastered in a few weeks and hit it on stage every try. STOP THE CAP lol
I want to learn that soooooo bad
@Theycallmecotton this is a side conversation, so I’m PM’ing you.
Its about time you guys got a private room together…
Lol! Mr. Cotton is just a super friendly dude! I’m pretty sure if you look up “good vibes” his profile picture just comes up.
Well here’s a quick trick from today, I figured out that Imgur embeds pretty well on here.
I see your post is popular among the adult throwers that I have succeeded in annoying on this thread.
Point taken gentlemen, point taken
Just for both of you all’s information, “meta” is short for “metagame”, though the “most effective tactic available” acronym is a good way to describe its general use.
Just so you know, meta is an extremely versitle way to describe something and has origions way before metagame. And what do you think metagame means?
I wish I could like this post but then it would mean that I can’t collect my YoYos . Sorry David ,
Hey thanks for the link
While some claim this meta is an acronym for Most Effective Tactic Available (a folk etymology), it is short for metagaming , using knowledge about the game itself to beat the “game” of mastering that game.
That or a few of us just thought it was funny after scrolling past ~15 posts of you two going back and forth I don’t find you annoying, but I do think it’s hilarious that this very carefully-worded-due-to-forum-guidelines and somewhat-tongue-in-cheek-but-still-genuinely-irritated-sounding debate persists to this day and probably will until the forum kicks the bucket.
Stay true, brother! I’m sitting here doing my best to avoid throwing any of mine so I have more time to stare at my collection, pondering the next bad photo I’ll inevitably take!
This genuinely made me laugh. A good description for sure!
And you’re right, this debate may well continue on until the end of time
Even though they sometimes annoy the ever loving bejeezus out of me, over time I sometimes feel a certain fondness for my adult/collector/casual throwers forum members.
Like when I’m in a debate such as this and I notice a particular user creating posts against my stances, or consistently liking posts leveled against me, sometimes I check their profile. And 90% of the time, I find it to be mostly mail day posts. You know, organics, slimlines, 0a and such. That used to aggravate me, but at a certain point, it’s gotten to where I just have to smile a little.
I someday hope to meet each an every one of these members, ooh and ahh respectfully over their organic collection, make one (1) snarky comment, and then have lunch with them. I’m sure they’re neat people in real life.
Alright, bedtime.
