Please elaborate a bit more
I know what you mean, and I don’t disagree. I’m just not that into it unless I can play with them. Nothing wrong with people loving to watch performances.
I mostly post pics because it’s easy. Making videos is hard…
I love looking at beautiful yoyos, too. It never gets old.
I really enjoy seeing other peoples tricks to inspire me to explore new concepts and ideas I may have never thought without seeing their take on yoyoing and maybe pick up a few tricks while watching.
Plz no. I really don’t like autoplay. If it were an option that could be enabled/disabled like w/ Twitter videos then sure.
Why don’t you like the autoplay feature?
I personally think the forum concept and layout doesn’t lend itself to video content.
All of the forums I’ve been on since I’ve been on the internet have been picture based. If I’m on a car forum, it’s always pictures of their cars, pictures of their builds, or pictures of whatever other content, rarely are videos ever posted and it’s not limited to car forums, all of the forums I’ve frequented over the years.
For me, forums is where I go to read discussion and see some pictures. If I want to go watch videos, I go to #trickcircle on instagram because it’s easy to browse through all the video clips, it’s really that simple.
It’s distracting, I don’t like things moving on a page without it being something I initiated. I want to choose which videos I watch, not have them shown to me by “force”. I get why some people like it so I’m not against the feature, but only if it’s optional and either opt-in/opt-out.
This is the best response I have seen yet. Touche… Although… I am part of a skateboarding forum and the videos of tricks get way more love than pics of people new skateboard setups
It’s really simple, this isn’t a platform for that kind of sharing despite your desire for it to be.
Basic BBS or forums arent the home to browse that content, just as it wouldn’t be on IRC or similar platforms (*cough… discord). Especially for those looking to minimize bandwidth for any reason.
Gonna be honest. I think Skateboarding and yo-yo’s are virtually identical in their concept.
The thing that differs for me is the fact that most boards retain a static shape. Not to say that Skateboards aren’t cool to look at, lots of great graphics.
Yoyo’s have a lot going on to me, when I see Luftverk, YYR, TP, etc… I’m blown away by the aesthetic beauty of the yoyo.
When I look at pictures of skateboard decks, fingerboard setups, or blade setups, I would never put one as my wallpaper on my desktop. But I definitely have a yoyo as my desktop background.
Not my desire for it to be? Just curious to why more love isn’t shown to all of the amazing tricks posted here.
Great answer <3
Of course. It’s one of the great things about it all.
It’d be nice to watch people perform for the sakes of their performances. Instead of for competition, I mean. I do spend slightly more time watching tutorials if they’re good ones. I like performances set to music. And for me, most people doing tricks are finished too soon. I want to watch you groove through tricks for five or ten minutes at a time and maybe start an encore. This kind of thing is just hard to find. Yoyo trick videos are ok, and I watch a little bit, but I don’t crave what I see very often while I’m not watching the videos that exist.
I’m not so sure about this thread. I think I’m going to go see what everybody is throwing today.
I look at instagram and youtube for tricks, I never really check the forum thread for posting tricks. I post tricks on my insta regularly, but I don’t think I’ve ever shared any in the trick thread. I couldn’t give you a great reason why. I think the demographic on the forums is more casual players, and when I look at insta for tricks I’m getting content from people explicitly playing to compete or create tricks.
I’m trying pretty hard to improve in yoyo, I just don’t come to the forums to post about it.
Becuz I want to choose to play or NOT.
Plus auto-play, in my experience, tends to bog down browsers. Might work fine for apps but embedded auto-play vids seem to make webpages sluggish.
