So far, Kwijibo has given me the most trouble to learn. Once I got it, though, I got it.
Took me months to finally get it, though.

That one took me almost a year, then one day, it just clicked. I didn’t know whether to be excited that I finally got it, or exasperated that after so long, it just happened so easily
still trying to get spirit bomb consistent. i don’t like grinding on a trick for months, i don’t have the patience for it. like rancid milk after the double or nothing with magic drop wrap, its not happening for me. still a dope trick.
Any trick that involves lots of string wraps or which can lead to lots of string in the gap leading to snags tends to be what causes me frustration. Generally I’m pretty good at not getting frustrated when learning tricks but if anything is going to do it, it’ll be getting my knuckles smacked lol.
Recent examples: Toya’s slack GT, Takeshi’s double slack rejection, popping out of the GT into the slack towards the end of Takeshi’s neo reverse GT combo, and Bao Duy flashy GT.
I tend to have 3 or so tricks that I’m actively focused on learning and I’ll also mix in other recently learned tricks to get more consistent at. The variety helps keep things fun for me and means that, even if I’m stuck on one trick, I’m probably still making progress with another.
Since question is slightly different than the one in this thread (What trick took too long to learn, but should have been easy?), I’ll change my answer from Kwyjibo to Utena Triangle. Was too early in pt. 2 of my yoyo journey to attempt a trick like that, and it made me realize I don’t enjoy learning most tech tricks.
This. I usually grind one out until I at least understand what I’m supposed to do. Then, I’ll start learning another one and practice these two while also getting in some reps of the most recent trick I’ve “solidly” completed (mixed into some brainless combos, of course).
Yuuki Slack. The first element is hard for me.
The final hop in Superman is the current bane of my existence…
Imma gonna bit more broad and say anything that doesn’t use pov, like I’ve been struggling on this trick FOR SOOOOOOO LONG. Figured it out the other day and it’s actually so simple I’m like legit mad I didn’t get it sooner. I just feel like they’re purposefully wasting my time by using EVERY SINGLE ANGLE IN EXISTENCE, but for the only one that matters . https://youtu.be/xDios_aNZII?si=Qt7SyUt1Oc5UnM8u
feel that. @mable said lock hands in and dont chase the yoyo and thats 100% the key but i fight my hands every single time! gonna have to start docking their pay. like i can do it sometimes but my consistency is doodoo
Maybe black hops? Been trying for literal years. Finally got everything but the final hop, run out of string and room
I just can’t get that damn triangle big enough to get the yoyo through it (I’ve even been using a Dink and still can’t get it through). So frustrating!
in my experience so far if you resist the movement the triangle can be deceptively small. ive even had it bounce off my hand and still exit a few times. what started to help it click the first few times was i pictured it as that was the “superman” part where i was just throwing it with the objective of it shooting up high regardless of if i caught it after or not. dunno if thatll help at all but it seemed to help me. also the angle seems to matter. the more im trying to exit by throwing it out and back toward my nth the less it works. works better if i shoot it straight up or with a slight lean toward my th
Thanks for the advice, I’m gonna work on it during my lunch break…
