There really is nothing like it…

I found a video of a trick tonight—one that I really REALLY wanted to learn—and it kicked my butt so hard. At first, I could barely comprehend it. Then I sort of understood what was happening, but I couldn’t even begin to move my hands that way. I moved on and did some other stuff and thought maybe it was just too advanced for me. Then I came back to it, and I understood it a little more. Then I was able to break it down into two separate movements. Then I could see what I needed to do in my mind’s eye, so I just tried over. And over. And over again. And then I hit it! And then I hit it again! And then I hit it again and could move on to the next part! And then I hit the next part!!!

There really is nothing like going from something feeling incomprehensible and impossible to freaking HITTING it. Especially just the first time, because I know if I can do it once, I can do it again. The feeling of it catching the right way. It’s too good. They should bottle this feeling and sell it.

the fact that learning each trick can be it’s own mini journey is one of my favorite aspects of the hobby. it’s what makes sitting down to a new tut SO fun for me
