I have been working on a slack triangle kind of deal. I hit it most of the time now, just working on keeping it smooth during combos.
I’m working on the Collect More Yoyos Without Going Broke trick.
What yoyo trick are you working on?
That’s cool
isn’t there already a topic on this?
Yeah, I’m just realizing that now
It can likely be merged with the older thread
The Matrix.
Things I’ve realized about learning new tricks:
- Every trick feels diabolically hard at first.
- Every trick has at least one element that seems impossible to get right.
- Every trick becomes doable, and then easy, after enough practice throws.
The number one secret to mastering even the hardest trick is to never give up on it.
You’re cracking the code!
Me: “Okay, this next part should be easy…KNOT!”
I have found that struggling with a certain part of a trick can lead to improvisation or some new element when trying to back out of the miss / goof. I like road maps but sometimes getting lost can lead to discovery.
The best inventions in the history of worlds are definitely from mistakes and accidents - and the best yo-yo tricks much the same! Love that. Haha.
Recently I was just fooling around with elements and accidentally made a new combo.
I landed Basic Grind four times today. Probably the most fun I’ve had with a trick so far.
Adding to my front style tech combo today.
I’ve discovered that I really need to master a basic side flip before I’ll have any chance of getting The Matrix down. Too often when I try one, the yoyo collides with my inner throwing arm, so there must be something about the mechanics of a side roll I’m getting terribly wrong.
I’m mostly interested in fast front style stuff too. I got down trapeze well enough but front stuff interests me most. To me, it just looks cooler being so fast and I’ve gotten binding down really good so it’s like playing responsive with the natural / traditional snap back to my hand. @smileypants707 tutorial where he shows that sky bind is my next bind. That can be incorporated with front or side play.
Halfway through Yuuki concepts. I’m at the Yuuki knot section.
Got down Hidemasa hook this week. I was having trouble with the string going to my throw hand being wrapped on the wrong way, but figured out what I was doing wrong and now I can land it probably 90% of the time. Other element that’s been annoying me is brother slack to ninja vanish. I can do them both just fine, but combining them has been more difficult than expected lol.
Agreed brother to ninja is getting better, slack brother to ninja is very elusive for me. Maybe 20%
