Throw-Yo string averages 120cm, and comes in varying thickness!

Some clips of extra long string here.
Just watching that makes my pants feel baggy. I can’t explain it.
And my sleeves feel wet.
Imo all tricks have a string length that allows them to look the best that they can. String length is just preference really but seeing people use goofy long string just has me think that the tricks would look better with a more average string length.
Also I just don’t think string length needs to correlate to height like that. Maybe shoulder width but idk really…the main things I think ppl should think about is like would this trick look better with shorter string or longer string. Tech with shorter string looks cool bc it appears denser than it actually is. Also how fast you want to play. Shorter string just plays faster like look at the speed players, they use really short string so they can play super fast. I know Markmont was using really long string bc he was into the like fully freestyle where he was doing tricks off the dome and having super long string allows more time to think bc the speed of play is slower.
You can look at how really tall players still use a pretty standard string length with no problems like Ryota Ogi is like 8ft tall or smt but I really doubt his string was longer than 120cm right here
Also here is a clear example of how using extra long string simply makes a trick look worse than it would otherwise. Old vid I made bc I was feeling silly.
Looking best is pretty subjective IMO. It’s yo-yoing – l don’t personally think that looking goofy is worth worrying about.

I could just be the camera angles, but Andrew Bergen seems to play with a pretty long string (at least for his height).

Extra string does help when hooking an Orange.
Yeah bergys string is definitely long. I tried his orange at worlds and was like yoo long string. It was fine tho tbh its mostly newer or less advanced players i see using super long string and just think like yo, that trick would look better and be easier if the string wasnt so long. Yeah idk i said imo above and said that it was just preference idk
Ppl can definitely make it look good still it’s just much harder i think
Shorter and longer string play introduce different demands. There is probably some ideal length where the challenges of both are balanced, but on either side of that a trick is more difficult/satisfying/impressive in different ways.
I think we agree that a person’s height is irrelevant to any of this.
I find 135cm to be fairly balanced… that may just be me though.
