Hi! I m davide frome italy…i ve never seen anyone play yoyo in my town and i m 38 so i think here is not common…but i love it!!!i m yoyoing from 1 month and i think it will be part of me in my furure cause i can t stop use it. I m learning basics with skill addicts app and i m almost to the “pro” part of the app…i bought a plastic arrow but i used it 1 week than i pass to an unresponsive yoyo as the shutter…then i bought an horizon but i don t fell ao good with it…it s better than shutter but…i don t know…should a better one make me feel better on yoyoing or do u advuce me to keep on practing with my 2 yoyo?thanks all
The World YoYo Contest was won on the Shutter. With yoyoing, it’s not the equipment - it’s the player & what they can do with it.
People have preferences, but a Shutter or Horizon is all you need to go all the way.
+1, I got a shutter in a trade and it is a solid throw, worth finding one used for cheap, typically like $20 usd or less +shipping.
Yo-yo purchasing can be extremely habit forming, just a warning.
Diego @ChrysaeThrows is in Italy and so are a few others, I beleive they also do meet ups
Thank u all for the answers…i m training all days after work 1 or 2 hours with the skill addicts app to learn new tricks…r there other guides for learning or is it that one the best?
I learned my fundamentals here on this site but there are plenty of good resources once you get past the basics. You might find that you learn just parts of tricks as a starting point for something else with some creativity. I used to do that a lot with the CLYW cabin tutorials.
Will a different bearing spin much than the original one?i m learning some sidetrick and i m getting better and better day after day…but i need more spin…i see that with the horizon i can land better my yoyo in all the tricks than the shutter…but it s not spinning so much…can a bearing help me?and which r the best one?
clean play in plane will help you with spin time more than a bearing ever will. just keep practicing and you’ll start noticing you have more and more spin time
You may not be throwing hard enough if you aren’t getting enough spin with a Shutter. Hand placement is huge for keeping the yoyo on plane. Throw a breakaway and land a trapeze. Now see how you can control the yoyo by moving your hands in opposite directions, one forward and one back. I find mastering this kind of control is essential. Even if I don’t have a perfect throw, I can still adjust the yoyo back on plane. I would highly suggest spending 5 bucks on the PDF version of the Yonomicon by Mark Mcbride. It was suggested to me recently and it gave me a foundation I realized I didn’t have. As with anything skill based, practice a lot and don’t get discouraged. And have fun!
