What is the reason for bearing spacers?

Why do some yoyos use/require them? It’s obviously a design choice. well maybe not obviously but ppl know more about designing yoyos than me and they put em in, so…

There’s got to be a reason. Why are they? What are they for?

Sorry if this is a stupid question. I have a lot of questions about yoyo design. It’s fascinating.

For hybrids i think the hub has to be pressed in from the cup and you want to use a spacer to cover the rest of the bearing seat with metal

Also you can adjust gap width with them so that’s cool for 2a and 4a yoyos.

Ohh that makes sense. The only throws I’ve seen them on have been non-metal at the gap. Thank you!
