What is everyone's favorite bimetal YoYo?

My current two favorites are the MK1 HD at 64g and the YYFr Peregrine at 63g. Runner-up, the YYFr DaVinci at 62.6g.

Plastic Speedaholic unseated only because C3yoyodesign outdid it with the Speedaholic XX. And yes, crash series is great, Hydrogen Crash found me. If you’re looking for something a little different:

General Yo Mini Star 2 is one of the greatest mini yoyos of all time.

Yoyofriends Stingray is a souped-up Koi. You need to be able to appreciate power and organic shapes simultaneously to have fun.

Pure power and heavy bi-metals can be tiring. Mk1 Brass Exia and Duncan Grasshopper GTX 2.0 are great fun for a little while. Mk1 HD and Duncan GTR JS are still powerful yet nimble relative to their siblings.

AceYo Mercy 7 and Mercy 8 Outer Ring are solid budget picks at $50 ($60 for Mercy 8 Inner Ring). 8 is wider and more H-shaped than 7’s convex V. Super-budget Shell 001 Mid-ring I got for $20 from China and plays more than twice its price, though the rim is a little sharp.

Hey, at least your not copping dope

Someone has to buy these expensive yoyos and give feed back

Yeah, I always wanted a yoyofriends stingray, I still after 7-8 years of throwing do not not which shape I prefer the most. I do not care for heavy bi-metals myself, I prefer lighter yoyos in general even at the cost of reduced spin time. Glad you talked about the AceYo Mercy, I’ve looked into them but didn’t know if they were worthy, they looked nice I’ll keep that in mind. Thank you for such a detailed response and sorry for responding so late.

I was not aware of this yoyo at all and a little bit before my time. I was around during the Yomega 90s but once the craze passed on looping yoyos, I moved on as well at the time. They made a second one, did you ever try it? Or do you still prefer the original from 2004 (I think I read)?

Where can one take a look at AceYo’s wares? Do competing retailers carry them, or do they have their own site?

I do not own any of the yoyos you named, but out of most responses you seem to have the same taste as me which those extreme fast playing light bimetals. I’ve been sleeping on YYF Bimetals for a while, I’m embarassed to admit I only own a Shortcut (loved it) and AEO (this yoyo I didn’t enjoy, issues from the start, heavy, but it was amazingly smooth and really did impress me there for what it is).

I’m aware of all the yoyos you named except the DaVinci but I’m playing a Kitana that is 62 grams now and it’s become one of my favorite throws so I will absolutely look into that.

I’ve seen them on Y.Y.S (yoyo s*m) and ebay. I checked yoyoexpert and did not find any. AceYo seems to be a cheaper option like MYY, but I don’t know about them and might be reaching.

Ugh, yoyoexpert is my favorite place to buy yoyos and I really mean that, sorry to name drop competitor. Also, they have the best site to navigate and I never thought that would make that much of a difference, but it is an absolute pleasure using their website. I actually use just to keep an eye on newer throws, they are always quite up to date, too.

I started with Magic YoYo (budget) and 8 years later with 70 plus yoyos, my favorite throw at the moment is the Magic YoYo Kitana 2. You were one of the only few mentions to get a second vote, so that yoyo is probably damn good. Love the graphic, I can see why you went for that one, reminds me when I waited for a Topyo Mojo to ship from China literally on a boat because I wanted the clear one hahaha when I was newer thrower. It came like 2 months later. All the budget brands like MYY, Vosun, TopYo and AceYo are all on major yoyo websites. Be proud of your throw, I would buy it in a heartbeat if I wasn’t so inundated with so many yoyos atm. Does inundated work? I don’t know but I sounded smart, didn’t i?

As the mentions come in, there are so many great throws out there right now. Papercut and both the other one I want as hell. Hypercut, I think it’s called?

Thank you for the picture and absolutely love silver yoyos that thing is clean.

I have the old Kagerou. How does the new 24 feel?

Thank you for sharing, does Brass rings really pit and look ugly in time? Never owned a brass anything yoyo related.

Own an Edge Beyond and it’s still one of my favorite yoyos. Galaxy Dinosaur if money wasn’t an issue, yeah I saw that, it’s absolutely beautiful. Can’t remember if made by Wild or someone else. I’ll look into MotionYoYo, I know very little about them but probably have seen some of their yoyos. Yeah, there’s so many great things out there atm. SS for the banshee if I owned one, the brass one was interesting reading comments about what people prefered. I still don’t get the brass purpose, but I’ve never owned a yoyo with brass rings.

59 grams? I’m playing a 62 MYY Kitana 2 right now and can’t even fathom what that plays like but it has to be good

Love those yoyos never owned but one of the more beautiful models with everything they make. I always see 65 or above with them, and that’s what always has held me back so far but I’ll try to be more open minded in the future. Their throws look solid and look like they can take a beating, too.

That’s interesting, we couldn’t be more different with our preferences on yoyos and how they perform. Don’t worry, I’m sure you are better than me  I’m a wanna-be professional who wants the best of the best bimetal tripple-cut/v no more than 65 grams so I can flex how great it would be for the competitions I don’t attend

I don’t have the old kagerou to compare, but It plays how I want it to without being overtly sharp on catch or overly wide. It’s just a solid yoyo. Strong and hefty.

My favorite bimetal right bow are the toru 0.999 and the aluminum distortion. I live the smaller diameter yoyos a lot with the wider width. Both are really powerful and good generalist yoyos. They both can handle anything you put at em. And the unparalleled devotion is a good contender for the top as well.

Don’t know if they have a legitimate website but they are on Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/aceyoyos/

As for purchasing, some makes it to some retailers in the U.S. as others mentioned, but your best bet is from Asian (particularly Chinese) marketplace website/apps.
