I never said or meant give off the idea that I’m some all knowing guy, I’m just a guy. I’m also not going to completely say yeah you’re right because one guy in a textbook said this is how society should work. Racisms history speaks for itself, regardless of philosophy, science, religion, etc.,

Evan’s was a terrible response to the reaction following a terrible idea.
Evan could have owned the fact that the original idea was a colossal mistake and a misuse of his platform. He could have acknowledged that his post was elevating and normalizing individuals and groups who do espouse a position of hate (whether or not they were polite to him personally), all for the purpose of a publicity stunt. He could have had the empathy to note that although he claims to have experienced little racism in life, his video was potentially hurtful to those who have. His response video was entirely defensive and came off as childish and misinformed. I don’t believe that his intentions were evil - just misplaced, foolish, and self-centered, and he is not in a position to make good on positive intentions from this position. As Evan and Angelo are two of the most visible players out there, it’s just a horrible look for yo-yoing.

Yeah look I get you’re a big name in the community and all, but it’s just a point of view. Doesn’t make it terrible, doesn’t make it right, or wrong. But that “joke” shouldn’t fly. I’m not saying cancel everyone I’m just saying it’s just a summary of society nowadays. Racism is just subject to immature edgelord humor. Congrats.

Huge props to Getnry for not becoming one of them in the face of all the fame and hate he got after his wins. Would have been real easy to let it go to his head the same way it did for Evan and Angelo. Absolute legend

And ignorance. I always assume (wrongly because I try to be optimistic) that racists are just really really dumb and sheltered. This is why we need to stop over writing history with book banning and stop telling teachers what to teach like the history we are taught isn’t even as terrible as things actually were. From a historical lens slavery was abolished in the USA recently and there is still obvious trauma here from that legacy. Hopefully things get better but that is only going to happen if people don’t stand for it and it’s good that yyf kicked Evan like if the apology wasn’t terrible things could have been different but it’s not worth it to make this a slap on the wrist like he missed the reason why people are outraged and as an ambassador of yoyo, he’s gotta know and be better than that.

Yeah and I just want to emphasize that I am not comparing what evan and Angelo did to the Holocaust. I really meant to make a point that it’s the casual racism and “jokes” that have a domino effect whether people realize it or not. It’s a gateway into a more dangerous way of thinking. Just wanted to clarify what I meant. Racism is dangerous but I also know these dramatic and sensationalist reactions (such as mine) cause a big stir. My opinions and reactions are my own and because I have personal ties to racism in my family, I reacted emotionally and not logically. I want to think they were well intentioned, but in my opinion, at the core of racism is hate. I’ve seen it and I don’t support it. I believe that Evan and Angelo can grow from this experience. As a matter of fact I hope that for them.

That’s why every discussion these days doesn’t lead to any growth. It is not a discussion and a clash of ideas, but “debate”. “It only comes to me to accept it if it is framed in my ideas.”
