Boondock Saints 1 & 2. St. Patrick’s Day tradition.
Finally watched ‘Free Solo’! Wanted more footage. Made the 1 pitch free soloing I’ve done look so short lol.
Also,
Dragged Across Concrete.
1 Solo: at the end I felt like “Guardians of the Galaxy 3 was meh”
2 The Visit: I didn’t like it at all, the twist was disappointing and wasted a lot of the “clues” throughout the film.
3 Casino Royale: “eh. didn’t wow me.”
The Big Lebowski
Solo was pretty good,
@beherenow so was free solo
Last Friday I went to the cinema to see Captain MArvel which was better than I was expecting, amongst the better Marvel films for me!
This morning I watched Ride The High Country which is an early Sam Peckinpah western, I hadn’t seen it in over 10 years so was nice to revist and pretty fine it was too.
Triple Frontier. Pretty good movie. Kinda predictable, but a decent watch.
I’ll second that, such a funny movie!
Haven’t heard of Alan Tudyk in a while, thought he just stopped after Serenity.
Mario Van Peebles was the bomb in Solo!
jk
Last movie I saw was eighth grade 10/10 movie
I just saw Shazam. Low expectations, quite fun I thought!
I’ve been on a Doctor Who kick lately (classic series only) and have watched these stories:
Frontier In Space (1973)
Planet Of The Daleks (1973)
Claws of Axos (1971)
The Curse Of Fenric (1989)
Vengeance On Varos (1985)
The Deadly Assassin (1976)
It has been a good ten or so years since I was last really into it. Any other fans?
Add to the above list of mine The Five Doctors (1983)
Oh and last night me and my girlfriend watched How To Train Your Dragon and How To Train Your Dragon 2. I had seen the first before and I find it wonderful, sweet, charming, exciting, cute and just all round lovely (plus Toothless is JUST like one of our cats!). I hadn’t seen the follow up before, still enjoyable but not as good
Movie related… was inspired to pick up the Battle Angel Alita Manga set after watching the movie a month ago and having seen the anime decades ago. (I can’t recommend the modern movie enough in 3D!)
Also was nostalgic for this book that I remember back when I was a kid. Speculative zoology is a super fun, thought-provoking topic.
Cool. It drops on bluray in a couple of months and I’ve got one of those ancient Sony 3d tv’s I need more disc for. Have to get UK open region for most movies the last couple of years since studios have dropped many of them from the US market. Chasing dead tech though.
Saw “Destroyer” today. Not bad.
More Doctor Who in the form of:
The Visitation (1982)
Full Circle (1980)
The State Of Decay (1980)
The Leisure Hive (1980)
I also just watched The Ballad of Cable Hogue, a Sam Peckinpah western from 1970 which is a lot milder than The Wild Bunch. It was alright but some of the attempts at humour aged it badly (reminding me at times of Benny Hill)
I really liked and highly recommend the movie Upgrade (2018). Excellent sci-fi thriller.
