Just got one of the elusive Eetsit Finales from @Oldyo . Thanks man!
Cool!
Also, Is that a Custom 22?
Thanks. No, it’s actually a Korina McCarty with Brazilian rosewood board.
Have to say that this time I nailed this mailday, I was looking for those 2 products from when they came out and I was waiting to pull the trigger because it was a lot of money but you only live once so I decided to just take them, so from USA to London I got those 2 little guys thanks to Yoyoexpert that is always amazing on shipping and products selection, as always I would like to write my first impression after more or less 2 hours of playing with each yoyo:
Japan Technology - Jugemu:
Can I say the worst packaging in the whole yoyo history? lol, yes I can, cause this yoyo cost 80$, I think YYE had to add an anonymous white box to keep it safe because that pouch and that string are just ridiculous, anyway, the yoyo itself is perfect and seriously glass smooth (for the “against the vibe team”), the finishing is absolutely stunning very soft at the touch and the graphic is beautifully realised, I really like the aesthetic on this yoyo and it’s shape, it’s the first thing that caught my eyes when out.
In my collection I didn’t had any yoyo like that, absolutely beefy aggressive rims, quite a bit of weight compared my usual but with standard enough dimension, very interesting.
Have to say that to be a monometal is incredible on spinning time and balance, you can feel it on the string and it is a nice feel the weight is greatly distributed, the shape really makes you feel safe during risky combos and I noticed this yoyo shine in body and arms combos, impossible to miss the string during various arm combos, I loved that! I found it very good for tech too, once used to the shape (it really takes a minute) my combos where flowing nicely and secure, all the slacks and whips tricks are very easy to catch as the yoyo is greatly visible and the catch zone more than generous.
It quite lacks on balance during horizontals combos is for sure not the most stable throw you can use for zontals the yoyo wants somehow to go back to the “standard” position and the spin time suffer.
I think this yoyo is quite a combo, slacks and body combo machine, also very good if you want to stay there and create new tricks as the spin time and the balance allow you that, in the monometal yoyo range this for sure sit down very high on my top 5 for sure, I think somehow the price is still a bit high but the quality in terms of the yoyo itself and the playing characteristics is there, also is for sure not a fast player I felt like it doesn’t want to go fast but instead to banger tricks and complicated combos which I liked a lot!
Have to say such a great addition to my collection for sure a fun yoyo that I want to play more and more also when I will want to create some new combos!
Yoyofriends - Da Vinci:
I am not sure how YYFr is able to raise the bar continuously, there is a topic in the forum about innovation, well this yoyo should stay in that topic because is without any doubt the most powerful and technical yoyo I have ever throw in my life, I am not exaggerating and I am not sure is possible to do better than this, the Da Vinci won over my beloved GTR-JS, to make this yoyo it seems they took all the great characteristics of my favourite yoyos and put it in a single product also fixing what I do not like of my fav yoyos, didn’t find any flaws at all in this one is just pure greatness.
Let’s start with the packaging that looks super good with also the 2 stickers a string and a set of pads, it looks all very good, the yoyo is again glass smooth (not a surprise from this brand), it looks absolutely beautiful, I took the full blue model and I love the darker blue stainless steel rims, the finishing seems glossy but is grind friendly I appreciate that as I am not a fan of glossy finishing as sometimes if you mess up a combo touching the yoyo the gloss destroy your spin time and mess the combo even more, one of the most good looking yoyos ever seen, so elegant, the shape is something I never really see it seems a bit of a mix of shapes and gives to the yoyo a classy look for sure.
About the playing, my friends, damn, name it, it does!
This yoyo is stable as hell, go through your combos like it is magic, smooth as butter, the slacks go inside that gap like an NBA player during a slam dunk, perfect for every type of trick, nailed it in body combos and horizontal body combos, my friends in horizontal this yoyo is a beast, the most reliable yoyo I have ever use to horizontal, it stay there, it stay in place, you can nail every combo even at a slower pace, hooks and slacks in horizontal are quite easy with this yoyo, I am speechless for how good it is and probably you can see how excited I am about this yoyo just unbelievable, it is also lightweight but it has a good presence on the string so agile and nimble, quite a fast yoyo.
To let you understand my favourite bimetals are: Duncan GTR-JS, UNPRLD - Seiji, UNPRLD - SU1
Every of those yoyos has some characteristic that share between each others and some of their own for example the Seiji is super floaty, great for rejection and slacks, wide and safe makes me feel more flowy as a player and the yoyo accompany my tricks perfectly, the SU1 is a powerful tank, insane stability during horizontals and normal combos too, very aggressive, fast, is the yoyo I usually use to create combos , the GTR-JS is fast, great on body tricks, very secure to hit combos without problems, light and a great zontals yoyo and the most comfortable in the hand of all 3 is a pleasure play with it.
The Da Vinci? Is all of this in one single yoyo, do yourself a favour and grab one if you like playing hard this yoyo will not delude you.
I heard very well of the CLYW - Klondike I would like to hear from someone that has both how they compare even thinking about the quite different shape.
Also added 2 YYR- DS bearings, sadly in gold because my usual platinum are sold out
Sorry for the long post but this mail day made me absolutely excited!
I actually bought the DaVinci after trying it at Nationals because it felt similar to the Klondike. They feel really close and I’m not the only one to feel that way I guess:
To me they feel about 85-90% the same but there are a few differences IMO. Klondike feels a bit more floaty (despite not feeling as light and fast on the string) when compared to DaVinci, and Klondike has a bit of a more hollow feel and less of a dense/solid feel (not a bad thing at all, it’s a good thing, just the best way I can describe it) in addition to being just a bit more comfortable (it’s just a touch more rounded off on the edges which is really nice). But yeah… if you like the DaVinci… you will LOVE the Klondike.
Quick comparison pic between the two:
Hit the nail on the head! Really surprised the Da Vinci didn’t insta sell out, it’s an awesome throw.
Thanks for the answer and the pic, it makes it very clear, they looks really similar, in a month I wanted to buy another Da Vinci to have 2 but I think it’s better save the money for the Klondike as they seems similar.
From the pic it seems the Da Vinci is a bit wider in the catch zone or maybe not wider but seems to have a bit more space.
Honestly idk what they did with this yoyo but to replace the GTR-JS it needed a real champion, I just can’t wait to go back home and nail 5 hours of hardcore playing with it, this yoyo made me so inspired!
Yup, I feel ya - Klondike, DaVinci, and Palp ES are the only bimetals I’ve tried/owned that dethrone the GTR-JS for me. GTR-JS was my favorite bimetal for over a year, and I honestly thought it was too hard to beat, but Klondike is just too crazy man. By FAR my favorite performing yoyo I’ve ever used, straight up.
Excellent post
Nice! Just made the connection with your user name. haha.
Need a yoyo pic with your strat, that’s what it looks like
Picked up a few throws from @Grunt
Luna, Panorama and Taijitu
Having a blast with the Taijitu. Such a fun, comfortable yoyo. The finish looks and feels great but, seems to scratch easy. Gonna baby this one.
Good eye. Yea, I’m totally a strat guy
It’s funny, OD dropped a Daphne Blue Fat Tire a few weeks back. My main strat is Daphne Blue Suhr. Woulda been cool to get the matching set.
Agree, and would love to the see the two together. If only we lived closer since I grabbed one of those 20/20’s
Those went quick. Good catch on that one!
That’s cool they did that color. Surf green would be a cool yoyo color too.
Like a Strat, but I’m a Tele guy.
