Can you even use the hubstacks on a responsive yoyo? This sounds like a unique and fun setup, but it’s probably too difficult for my currently weak 5A game.
Btw, anyone with a hubstacked Confusion, how does it handle using hubstacks? Responsive/unresponsive, any feedback welcome.
Doc posted a nice little responsive 5A combo with it a bit ago. It looks like a pull start machine, I definitely wanna grab one in the future. https://www.instagram.com/p/CehG47CAj-g/
I’ve been doing a move where start by throwing the counter weight down holding the hubstacks and then the counter weight comes back up then I’ll throw a break away. Doing pull starts super fun too. This is my first throw with hubstacks and really my first time trying responsive 5a so still figuring it out.
My thoughts have zero value and I’d refer to regular reviewers to be honest.
Quick thoughts: Smooth, relatively inexpensive, plays like a $60+, stable, just over 66g.
I don’t think they’ve announced a non-mystery bag price just yet (this was $37 shipped), but for the price range of $30-$35 it’s a solid performer like you’d see in a $60+ throw. It’s similar to the Sync and if you like yoyofriends, the shape, and their throws I think you’d enjoy it and not worry about damaging it.
It’s dead smooth and behaves as you’d like it on the string without surprises and was very stable. I might like it better than the sync in terms of hand feel & performance for how I throw but personally wouldn’t have chosen this colorway. I felt it was a bit heavier on the string than the “floaty” description during casual play, though keep in mind the Silenus is ~67.7g… so sure it’s floatier than that in this price range. Worth noting I also never pick up my Sync… My Shortcut weighed in slightly higher than their specs as well.
Yoyofriends throws seems to enjoy playing on the faster side and perhaps that’s just not my speed right now. If you have interest, I’d say give it a try as you might find it just right for you and it likely won’t break the bank.
Been on vacation. Came home to a mail day I was looking forward to, getting access to it on Father’s Day was a nice touch.
This is a 2007 Mud 888. Apparently a batch of 07 888 were run through @yyfben2.deactivated dishwasher. That was what I was told, unsure as to the why, if I had to guess, they were dirty and needed to be cleaned (tagged him for clarity in case he has the time.)
Plays great, has a unique finish that grinds nice, and it is wonderful to have an 07 888 again.
