My recently passed Papaw worked for Bell back in that time, I need to find a copy of that. He was involved in many big innovation, including the touch tone phone!!

going on the list.

Fair warning, some of it is pretty disturbing.

If the disturbing parts involve children, then that is a no go for me…

Better skip it then.

Oh hell yeah! I listened to Rant while driving through the backwoods of Tennessee and Kentucky on a road trip when it came out boy the environment was so fitting haha. Loved it. I’ve read it two or 3 times since. Still waiting on the other two supposed books. Hard telling if we’ll ever see them though.

Haunted is also fantastic, just stay way from the swimming pool inlet.

Chuck is definitely one of my all time favorites I’ve read most of his stuff some of them multiple times..

For anyone interested here’s some definite recommended reads in no particular order. I put the easier to digest stuff at the top.

  • Survivor
  • Stranger than Fiction (if you like the movie, definitely read the book)
  • Rant
  • Snuff
  • Choke
  • Shock Induction
  • Fight Club
  • Invisible Monsters
  • Damned
  • Doomed
  • Romance
  • Lullaby
  • Haunted

And of course Fight Club! I was talking to my wife yesterday about Rant. I think it’s our generation’s version of The Catcher and the Rye except you don’t feel the need to go shoot a Beatle after reading. I never knew there were supposed to be sequels. They need to be made. As far as Haunted goes if you don’t know what @cowmamba is talking about with the pool maybe read on an empty stomach away from nice carpeting!

Just friendly disclosure the author of Haunted used to read parts aloud to fans and there were usually folks that would pass out from his graphic descriptions. Reader discretion is highly advised😬

Ever read any Clive Barker?

Oh yes!

Hellbound heart, Abarat series, Mister B. Gone, Coldheart Canyon, Weaveworld are great!

I’m on a SWOR kick. Just finished revan, now rereading Darth bane.

does anyone listen to audiobooks while throwing?

If you get the chance Imajica is my favorite by him. Two part epic. If you didn’t know he made a sequel to Hellbound Heart; The Scarlet Gospels. Perfect halloween season reads

Oh yes I’ve read those too! haha! I didn’t think to include them. The only Hellraiser one I haven’t read yet is the toll. I just haven’t gotten around to it. The imajica was pretty god too!

I recently just finished the first Dresden Files book by Jim Butcher. Pretty good! Not what I was expecting, but I’m definitely invested enough to continue.

However, my mom gave me a book over Christmas after I had previously expressed interest. I can’t remember the title off the top of my head, but it’s about Merlin coming to power. It’s by Mary Stewart. If I remember, I’ll edit the title in this post

Within the last year…
“A Bright Shining Lie: John Paul Vann and America in Vietnam” by Neil Sheehan.
(probably should also read “The Best and the Brightest” by David Halberstam but never got around to it.)

“A Legacy of Spies” by John le Carré. I’ve read a number of his books and thoroughly enjoy them. I’m a fan of cold war spy novels and history.

A year ago I finished rereading Asimov’s Foundation series (including the prequels and epilogues) for the third time. Was going to give the set to my grand daughter but can’t find them. I think my wive donated them to the thrift store.

Starting “It Can’t Happen Here” by Sinclair Lewis.

Up next…
“A Great Place to Have a War: America in Laos and the Birth of a Military CIA” by Joshua Kurlantzick
“Legacy of Ashes: The History of the CIA” by Tim Weiner

I intend to read this in a couple weeks, but my parents finished “The Hiding Place” recently and strongly recommend it. Priority #1 for me based on what little I’ve heard about it
