What happens wheb you try to cleana bearing with the shields on? Because ive spent the last half hour trying to get the shields off and have gotten nowhere. Why cant they just manufacture them without sheilds??? Ug!
I don’t think that will be very effective because cleaning was meant to remove any debris/particles in the bearing. How are you trying to remove the shields? They should come of fairly easily. The shields are there to decrease the amount of grit that gets in there, but I remove mine since they are worth more trouble than the advantage it offers(if any). Shutter for 1a and g funk for learning the basics of 5a (it isn’t bad or a problem. I don’t get why you guys said it was)
I never said ot was bad, i said the shutter would probably be better… undersized throws generally arent too great at 5a since its not as stable as full sized throws.
It’s really impossible to manufacture the bearing with shields on hehe.
All jokes aside though.
Take a straight pin (think sowing pin with the little plastic end) and work the sharp end of the pin into the c clip end an with a little patience and hope you’ll pop it out :).
The shields need to come off to clean as they keep the junk in if you cannot get the off you’ll end a new bearing.

I’ve always had good luck using an exacto knife for popping out the clips on bearings. Be cautious, though - they’re very sharp.
